Edit - Latest Review -- House of Biryani's and Kebabs restaurant is a place that offers great food, good vegetarian options, amazing service, and a fantastic staff. It is a welcome addition to the area, finally breaking the jinx of that location.
The dedication and hard work put in by the staff is evident in the quality of the food and the exceptional service provided. The menu boasts a variety of flavorful dishes, with options available for vegetarians as well. The staff members are friendly, attentive, and go the extra mile to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
While the restaurant has had its share of success, there have been some recent inconsistencies. Some dishes have become spicier and greasier than before, you can clearly see the refried food, you can taste the food is slightly stale at times and there have been instances where specific instructions were not followed. It is advisable to clearly communicate your preferences and insist on your specifications. I have done that and still they mess it at times. I hope the ownership comes in every day and not rely on the staff any more. The staff are not bad, but they are not great in management and especially for food, one accident is too costly.
Despite these occasional hiccups, House of Biryani's and Kebabs remains a place worth visiting. It may not be as frequent of a dining spot for us due to recent experiences, but it still offers delicious food and is conveniently located for those in the vicinity.
Here was my previous review from 3 yrs back. Great food, good vegetarian options, amazing service, and fantastic staff. Finally an Indian Restaurant which broke the jinx of that location. Success is no accident. It is hard work, effort and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. I see that in them every time. Fantastic HBK! many more years of...
Read more(Updated) I had to come back for an update. I usually order biryani and accompanying items and it was good. However this time in addition to the below experience I had ordered Indian Chinese. None of the items tasted Indian Chinese and despite asking to make a few items non spicy for kids it was still spicy. If ordering here again I would stick to pure Indian instead of of Indian Chinese.
(Original) I really like this place but have to drop two stars due to miscommunication. They usually do a 10pct cash discount. When ordering a bunch of things you don't really calculate how much it is and just ask them to apply the cash discount. The person taking the order on the phone told me the cash amount and I took the exact change. Once I was there his amount was a $1 extra. $1 is a very small amount and I was happy to give it but I just made a point that next time be accurate. No harm no foul. Instead of acknowledging the mistake he started saying no I did not say that amount when I clearly talked with the guy 20 mts back. Why would a customer placing an order for 4 or 5 items need to lie about a $1. This is for the management of this place. Please train your staff to communicate clearly and if a mistake was made, please acknowledge it. What could have been a 5 star review needlessly lost 2 stars. And it doesn't take a lot of 3 star reviews to bring the aggregate score under 4 (right now you are floating at 4 stars but once it hits the 3 territory it is not great...
Read moreHaving visited this restaurant multiple times due to its convenient location, I was initially impressed by my first experience. I ordered the biryani, and it was a delightful revelation. The portion size was generous, and the flavors were well-balanced, making it a satisfying meal that left me eager to return.
A Shift in Quality
However, my subsequent visits revealed a troubling decline in quality. It became apparent that the restaurant might be using old oil in their preparations. The biryani, which once stood out for its rich taste, now resembled a bland mixture of rice and curry. The vibrant spices that initially captivated my palate seemed to have faded, leaving behind a dish that lacked the depth and character I had come to expect.
Oil Quality and Its Effects
One significant issue I noticed was the type of oil used in the biryani. The oil left a heavy, greasy aftertaste that not only diminished the overall flavor but also left me feeling extremely thirsty afterward. In contrast, other restaurants often prepare their biryani with ghee, which adds richness and a satisfying mouthfeel without the unpleasant aftereffects. This difference in preparation methods made my dining experience here even more disappointing.
Disappointing Raju Gari Palav
In addition to the biryani, I decided to try the Raju Gari Palav, hoping for a flavorful experience. Unfortunately, this dish was another letdown. It felt like a hasty combination of rice and a...
