Nawab Grill & Halal Meat — Restaurant in South Brunswick

Knocking down to one star, wish I could have reduced them to negative. I bought the chicken meat from them. I took it home and tried to cook it next day only to found out that the meat was all spoiled and bad. It smelled like a dead mouse. I mentioned to them in my next visit to their store and to my surprise I got a very hostile response. Owner told me that they have posted sign in their store suggesting to check the meat before leaving the store door and once you're out of the door they will not take the meat back. I was expecting a more customer friendly and apologetic response rather than this type of hostility. He further mentioned that meat could have gone bad on my way home due to hot weather. Seriously!! fresh meat stored properly will get bad if you take it 30 mins away from their location. It was clearly either their storage method or handling or faulty equipment which have caused meat to go bad. I was not even looking for refund but his aggressive response was completely unacceptable. I'd heard similar stories about them in the past but never paid attention to them as I always want to support local businesses within community. People should avoid them at all cost. We catered food for 2 events (mendhi and valima/reception ) from them and people could not stop complimenting how tasty the food was (especially chicken biriyani, chicken karahi, and goat pulao). Make sure you ask for samples for catering purposes- they will make it fresh and better than what they serve at the restaurant. We have been to 2 other weddings this year and the food was not good at all. People won't remember anything goes else but they will remember how good your food was at your wedding. Price was VERY reasonable and staff very helpful. Just don't forget the Naan like we did. The restaurant has a sit down area but it's a meat store so it's not the ideal place for a nice sit down dinner but if you're hungry they have amazing authentic homestyle punjabi food. Just make sure you ask for what was made fresh that day because their day-old biriyani isn't great (like I said their fresh catered biriyani is amazing though). The worst experience I've ever had with a desi restaurant has happened multiple times now. If I could give 0 stars I would. They gave no chutneys even upon request several times and when taking the order gave confirmation there were chutneys in the bag however, there were none. They originally didn't even have enough samosas but, we were accommodating and offered to order something else in addition instead. This would have all been overlooked has the quality of the food not been awful. The samosas were dried and looked ages old upon biting into a aloo samosa there was dried out something, not sure it qualifies as food. The kebabs were half raw. We have given this restaurant multiple chances with them always messing up something in our order but this time they have truly outdone themselves in wrecking...
