When this place opened me and my family thoroughly enjoyed eating here, always had an amazing experience. Our experience last night will be our last, when ordering our server had no knowledge of anything on the menu, another waitress finally gave us an actual menu so we could see the full details of the dishes. I asked for no peppers, onions or mushrooms. When my dish arrived it was full of them. When I told the waiter I would rather change it out for something else he acted like he couldn’t do that without the manager so he went and got him. The manager with an attitude agreed and the second meal was brought out shortly after. I asked for the dish I always get to make things quick and easy for everyone. What they brought out was sloppy and very unappealing (mind you I had gotten this plenty times before) I was willing to overlook it and ask for some hot sauce and cheese which never came to the table nor did our waiter! The manager finally brought our bill and by this point I was over the entire experience so I asked for my meal to be removed from the bill meaning I never touched either dish that was brought out for me. The manager straight up told me “I’m not going to throw 2 dishes away just because you don’t want them, there is nothing wrong with it. You need to pay for this even if you don’t take it”! I wasn’t going to argue so I told him don’t worry about it and I paid full price for everything even the dish I didn’t touch!! Unfortunately my family and I will not be returning, due to how rude and unprofessional the manager is!!! They definitely need to look into getting another...
Read moreMuch work needs to be done here. I wanted to try this New restaurant in the Cane Bay area. We stopped by on Saturday for Dinner. We seat on the patio. They prefer you to use the digital menu but all the sides are cut off. We order two Margaritas, a regular and a Texas Margarita at $9.50 each. A waitress delivering the drinks, she had no idea which one was which and contrary to how the Texas margarita (also known as a Cadillac Margarita) the Grand Marnier shot was supposed to be on the side but suppose it was made with the shot inside. I could not test the difference between the two. The Food- 1 Agave Shrimp, the sides where supposed to be salad and beans, we got rice and salad. The shrimp's come on a white sauce, I will rate the shrimp's as a 4 starts, price at $15.75. 2- The Carnitas price at $14.50, with beans and rice. I will rate this dish a 2 star. Here is the problem: Nothing tasted like Mexican or Tex-Mex food. The rice and beans are tasteless. The sauce for the chips tested like tomato sauce. They don't asked you if you want hot sauce and there is no salt and pepper on the tables. I asked one of the employees for sauce and was told to ask my server.
The patio has several sewer covers (like the ones you see on the streets. I was unfortunately to seat by one of them. So, from time to time you are hit with the smell of sewer. ( they really need to do something about this).
The restaurant is nicely decorated and it could be a nice place if they can get the food, the sewer and the bartender...
Read moreJust tried Agaves last night for the first time. The decor is alluring. The booth cushions and menus were hand-me-downs, both cracked and worn. I had to ask to myself, how long had this restaurant been open? Our hostess, just grabbed menu's and walked to our table ahead of us and dropped the menu's and left. There was no typical Hostess interaction between her and us (party of 3). The comp. chips were a little stale? The Salsa wasn't bad. Our Server on the other hand was very conversational and attentive. We each ordered an adult beverage...I got a Paloma which was very well done! The plates and servings are large portions! I had the Tacos de Nopales, husband had the Golden Tacos and my mother had Chile Relleno and an chicken Enchilada. My Nopales tacos were SO flavorful and juicy, I could only eat two. My husband's plate was like a car hub cap, it was HUGE! He ate all three tacos, but couldn't finish beans and rice. My mother and I usually "judge" the Mexican restaurants by their Chile Relleno, she said it was good--not as good as my homemade Relleno's but....good. We got Churro's to go and these were pretty disappointing. Tasted like hard, chewy previously frozen little fried strips. Churros are another judging dish. Haven't yet found the "right" Churro. While it was not the top of our list it did jump a spot or two over some other local Mexican spots. Would come back again....
