COVID-19 UPDATE my wife and I went back on Saturday May 23rd. I want to give them a 2.5 stars. Sat down outside, was a very nice evening. Tables and chairs were proper social distancing. Hostess not wearing her mask. Servers were wearing masks. Food was tasty not really hot. They could've done a better cleaning and sanitizing of the table and chairs. The bus person came out a rag ONLY to wipe the table down and was very quick about it, I wasn't in a rush I don't know why he was, thank goodness I bring my own sanitizer and wipes. It looked like there was sanitizer to use but not verbally communicated, as a matter of fact, nothing was said about the virus. I did see a container of used pens at the hostess stand, so you are getting a new pen each time. We had rolled silverware and wrapped paper straws for our drinks. Bathroom was really really bad. That's the end of my update. Sunday afternoon lunch buffet about 2pm, was very busy. Small buffet setup, with lots of goodies, I had to ask for flour tortillas as they were not on the buffet, this way you get them perfectly warm and fresh. they also have a regular menu to order from. Restaurant was clean, a welcoming staff. Smiles too. Chavo, I hope I spelled his name right, was excellent at keeping the buffet replenished and his knowledge of the foods as he explained some of the foods to me as I didn't know what all of it was, Nahomi our server was knowledgeable about the food as well. $12.99 lunch and it's very worth it. We will be back to eat off the menu. One thing I forgot to check was the bathroom, not sure how...

I posted a review on Facebook. An employee took it upon himself to message me and blocked me before he could receive further feed back. Here is the Facebook review: the fajita was burned so badly it could not be eaten. The vegetables were black burned greasy little slug looking things, the steak was overly done, and the shrimp was rubbery. We returned the dish to the kitchen and didn't ask for another when we get the ticket the the inedible fajita was still there. We payed 13 dollars for something that was inadequate. We will not return. It's ridiculous and intolerable. The message he sent was a cookie cutter response going on about how we should give them a second chance. That fajitas are served on a plate that may cause them to continue to cook. My problem is that the fajita must have been sitting on the line for ten if not more minuets because of the BLACK vegetables. When I tried to return a message to him it came to my attention that the individual in question has blocked me. So I'll post my response here in hopes he sees it. That's not going to happen. Let me explain why the only thing that was mostly consumed was not the fajita meat, but the vegetable that were on the opposing plate. The fajita was unacceptable. I don't apologize for your improper knowledge of the preparation of a fajita. At Los Arcos we order fajitas all the time and never received consumables as inadequate as this. So keep your false sense of reconciliation. Blocking me so that you don't have to hear anything else from me...

A few of my friends, my girlfriend, and myself chose to eat at Rio Chico tonight. We were not pleased the service and how unprofessional the staff was. The waiter did not introduce himself (the server name on the receipt says "Danny Boy"), he barely spoke English, he couldn't answer questions we had about menu items, and plenty more. When he brought the food out, he did not warn us that the plates were hot and my girlfriend burnt her hand on the plate when she moved it. When he brought the checks, he didn't ring our order up correctly (it wasn't difficult, just 2 soft tacos and rice), we warned him and he took the ticket back. He came back and the ticket was MORE than what it was before because he charged us for items we did not order. By this point, I was very fed up and I told him that we didn't order these items and he called what I assume was the manager (I wouldn't have known, she didn't introduce herself either) and she proceeded to tell us that we were wrong, and that we DID order the items and that we had just eaten them. This was not the case, and she said she would not reduce the price because that was what we had ordered according to the waiter. All in all, the staff was very unprofessional, unorganized, poor, sloppy, and just down right disrespectful. We will not be going back to this...

Update: Last 2 meals have been terrible and the last was possibly the worse meal I've ever had anywhere. Not sure what happened here, but with Agave right down the road I don't know how they stay open. Sent food back for the first time in my life and my wife felt sick all day after we ate there. Food was obviously old and microwaved. Love this place! We just moved to the area, so we're incredibly happy to have Rio Chico within a golf cart's ride from our house. This is some of the best Mexican food my wife and I have ever had. The service is awesome, the place is clean, the food is great, and the margaritas are huge and delicious. That's the "medium" margarita FYI. My wife had the Burrito Asada, and I had two pastor, one shrimp, and one chorizo taco. The chips and salsa are awesome, and the guac is amazing as well. I didn't know refried beans could taste so good. All of that for just over $30 means this is the best value anywhere in our opinion.

We had just gone through a situation where another Mexican restaurant made us wait for 25 minutes with only chips; we were upset but remembered the Mexican place that we used to go to after our kiddo's soccer games. We drove for 20 minutes to Rio Chico. We were given a table in less than a minute, and freshly made chips were given to us and drinks. Three minutes later, we ordered our food, and we were even given sauce options. Not even more than ten minutes had passed, and we were given our order, which was five different food plates. The waiter was the whole time attentive, refilling our drinks and making sure that we had everything we needed or wanted. Sadly, we won't be able to go here anymore because we are moving to the West Coast this week, but I 100% recommend this place to everyone who is looking for authentic Mexican good.
