Captain John's Seafood Grill is a hidden gem adjacent to where I work at the YMCA. As a regular customer, the staff know my order by heart, which adds a personal touch to my dining experience. The staff are incredibly friendly and polite, always maintaining a clean restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere.
Although I've heard nothing but good things about their seafood, I have a seafood allergy, so I usually opt for the Philly cheese steak and fries. The Philly cheese steak is decent—nothing extraordinary—but for $7.00 during their lunch special, it's an excellent value.
One aspect that truly stands out about Captain John's is their attention to detail in service. They always keep my cup full and provide napkins, silverware, straws, and condiments without me having to ask. This level of service makes dining here consistently pleasant and hassle-free.
The food arrives quickly, and the two bathrooms are always clean, reflecting the overall high standards of the restaurant. Although parking is limited, it’s sufficient for the usual crowd, so I rarely have trouble finding a spot.
Their sweet tea is particularly delectable and a perfect complement to any meal. Overall, Captain John's Seafood Grill is a fantastic spot for a quick, satisfying lunch or a relaxing dinner, even if you’re not a seafood lover. The excellent service, friendly staff, and great value make it a standout...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I dined here for the second time, and I got a GRILLED seafood platter with scallops, shrimps, "lump" crabcake (not really lump), grilled veggies, and cole slaw. The food was pretty salty and heavily seasoned. The menu said that the crabcake was "lump" so I thought it would not have much fillers and mostly crab meat. However, it was hard to see the actual meat and it did have a lot of carby breading and it tasted good, but with my low-carb dietary restrictions, I was disappointed. I would have liked more crab meat and less fillers/bredding because that is what "lump" means to me. The scallops and shrimp were ok, but way over-salted. The veggies had A LOT of oil in them, so I didnt eat but onlu a few bites of it. I feel like it was too oily, but it didn't have to be. The Hot Fish Club has much better food in my opinion. The waitress was super...
Read moreWe had 4 adults 2 kids eating a late lunch. I'll start with the Positives, the fries were good and the coleslaw was pretty decent.
We mostly all got Haddock, 2 fried and one lemon pepper, the fried my Mother inlaw said was cold like it had been fried and stored under a lamp too long, and the Lemon pepper didn't taste of lemon or pepper and just of dirty skillet.
It was disappointing to say the least after spending 100$+
But apparently the shrimp was good, my daughter ate all of hers and the white American cheese on a bun was a fun take for the grilled cheese.
I also had the potato salad which was fairly basic white potato salad that you'd get at a catered golf event.
I doubt we will ever go back but maybe they have something better than their signature fish on the menu.....
It wasn't busy yet, we were 4 of the 8...
