Very nice mexican Restaurant with unique features. Food very good but could stand a few tweaks.
I ordered sweet tea, Chicken Fajitas, and later guacamole.
The chips and salsa came out immediately followed soon after by my sweet tea in a heavy glass mug. The mug was a nice touch and the chips were fresh.
The Salsa included with the chips was refrigerated and wasn't as tasty as it could have been. I always prefer the salsa room temperature and fresh made. The Glass mug was definitely an upgrade from the plastic glasses prevalent at such resteraunts. Sadly though the tea tasted either Instant or old.
Next out was my side plate. Unlike most Mexican restaurants I have been to it only included rice and beans. Which is when I ordered the guacamole. The beans were missing the dash of cheese on top I was used to but had absolutely excellent flavor. The rice on the other hand was bland and generally unflavorful, very disappointing and I didnt eat it.
The Fajitas came out, which I was able to watch him cook. I generally hate green peppers and to my surprise these fajitas were made with a mix of red yellow and orange peppers. The included flower tortillas were fresh and good also. I did notice a lack of mushrooms however. The flavors of the fajitas were excellent overall.
I unfortunately had to pay extra for my side of guacamole but I soon learned that was because it was made to order and delicious. They did not skimp on the lime.
I would definitely recommend this spot if your in Myrtle...
Read moreI'm not one to typically leave a review, but this needs it. I'm sorry if it's harsh. My husband and I ordered food from here while visiting family. We are both accustomed to the robust, bold flavor of Mexican food, even Tex-Mex. This food however, tasteless. We both had gotten the fajitas, our favorite dish. First, the meat and veggies looked subpar, the onions were perfectly cooked but the peppers looked barely cooked nor roasted. The meat tasted like there was no seasoning. It was tender though so they've got that going for them. The rice and beans, well, the beans were ok. The rice, to quote my husband "it looked like they took Chinese fried rice and added Spanish seasoning to it". Then the "salad" looked like either old, browning, wet lettuce or they had gotten some meat/veggie juices all over it, and they had some sort of tomato on it. Very tasteless. The chips were ok as long as they were being eaten with something, but they were possibly over fried. The salsas, though spicy, they lacked flavor. The tortillas were good though. Chile Frito, I urge you to please, season and marinate your food. Taco Bell has more flavor than what we just ate. We are still thankful for food in...
Read moreAs soon as you walk into Chili Frito you’re greeted with a large B&W photo of a man with distinctive eyes and a warm smile. You see immediately he looks to make your time with him the best it could be. You see the same look in his son, the owner of Chili Frito. As I sat there I saw him genuinely greet and thank everyone for visiting his restaurant. There’s a wide selection to choose from, appetizers to entrees to desserts. I went with the Chili’s Shredded Chicken Burrito, delicious. The salsa and chips came first which is homemade. You get three choices from mild to hot. When your meal comes the first thing you notice is everything is fresh and homemade, that carried through as I cut into the burrito. The meal was a good sized portion and delicious. When I saw Flan on the menu I knew it must be homemade, I was right. Again it was a good sized portion and the best I’ve had since I’ve been down here. In fact I can’t think of a Mexican restaurant on the Grand Strand that is better than Chili Frito. Although it’s off the beaten path it’s well worth the short drive to get there, I drove from North Myrtle and will definitely go...
