This was a rough review because honestly the food was excellent . When you first enter the restaurant they're no one to greet you , not even an hello just a big sign that says seat your self . We sat at dirty table and waited about 3-5 min for the only waitress to to wipe it down with a dirty wet towel and wiped all the food and crumbs from the previous customer onto our laps . When we finally got the menus we ordered right away knowing the waitress might not be back for long time . We ordered drinks , 1 water with Lemon as I love a lemon water with my seafood , 2 cokes and frozen margarita , waitress came back with no Lemon , margarita on rock ( wrong order ) . Never got my lemonš We orders a pint of steamers 20$ which comes out to around 12 pieces give or take , medium size full , few tiny ones , very fresh , a bit sandy but that's ok I know they were super fresh , the waitress delivered the steamers with no butter , Ask if we want butter after she delivered them by the time she got back, the steamers were all gone. Next came two lobster rolls, which were pretty good. Not the best tasted like a mixture of frozen lobster meat and fresh lobster meat. I think they combine the two definitely more bread than lobster meat but not bad. We also got a Scallop plate . The scallops were jumbo cooked to perfection, sweet succulent, and fresh. My only complaint as what most people is just not enough and it's basically a huge plate of fries with a few scallops.. my team daughter got the Smashburger, which honestly I couldn't find the burger inside the bun. It was a decent size bun, but no burger very flavorless the waitress served the burger with no condiments no catchup no mayonnaise. I would say the burger was a big disappointment. I understand seafood is expensive nowadays, but it has to be a balance between value and portion size while the food while the quality of the food was outstanding fresh. The portion size to value is lacking service is not existing the waitress was on shift by herself and it was a full restaurant. The ambience is between a bar and a diner so don't come for the ambience but do come for the good quality food.. the product is there but it's really lacking in customer service and experience waitress. Oh yeah, I forgot about the fried whole belly clams. Well there was nothing wrong with the clams themselves. They were too tiny and when you fry those tiny clams they become crumbs so I definitely would stay away from the fried clams unless they decide to get larger ones cause honestly it was like eating just bread batter because the clams were so small . Total spent with with tip 180$ 2 lobster rolls , one pint steamers , one app order of whole belly fried clams , one scallop plate , one smash burger , two cokes , Margarita . Also, just as a sidenote, you advertise your restaurant as a raw bar and you don't really mention where any of your shellfish comes from. It's nice to advertise on the menu where your product is coming from , that your clams come from McClellanville or your cherry stones. Come from Cape Cod Bay or your oysters are from Island Creek. Etc ... We...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYours truly worked literally ON the Boston Fish Pier where the fish came off the boats, went right into the auction house on the pier, and into restaurants like No Name and Jimmy's Harborside.
PROS: 1 - The decor is cute and casual with blue and silver accents 2- I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was DELICIOUS!!! My husband got the po' boy and he said it was very good... bread was soft and there were large pieces of shrimp. Fries and onion rings were tasty. 3 - Waitstaff? Great!!! 4 - They get points for whole-bellied clams (though I don't eat them). 5 - Copper mule cups!
CONS: The bar stools are too low for the bar. You feel like a 4-yr old bellied up to the bar. They are the same height as the ones at the high top tables. Will try a table next time. Any respectable place that serves chicken has honey mustard. I was told it was just removed from the menu, but they just opened? The recipe is honey, mayo, and mustard. If you want true New England, you get Caines mayo, but Hellmann's is completely appropriate. The menu snuck in too many southern items. There are so many great NE seafood items, I felt it took away from the authenticity. Then again, my husband did love that po' boy.
SUGGESTIONS Note they just opened, so some of these might be a little premature. I expected some New England beers... Harpoon, Tuckerman's, etc. Happy hour needs ONE non-seafood item like a snappah dog (Kayhem's, of coursel or potato skins or something snacky.
NEXT: I will inspect the actual rolls for the lobster rolls. If they actually have New England Style Hot Dog Rolls, I will order a case!
FINAL THOUGHTS: I am a picky eater. I am a once-and-done if I don't like a restaurant. I didn't get a true NE vibe, but I definitely enjoyed our food and the experience. I am looking forward to another visit... and soon. We are telling our friends to give it a try. I am...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there with my next door neighbors, they went once before and said that food arrived cold, sent it back and came back barely warm, but they would give it a second try since I haven't been there yet. Well, one and done for me. First, the waitresses looked like they didn't want to be there, they could have faked it and smiled once and a while. Second, I ordered 6 raw oysters at $2+ each and they were smallest clams I've seen maybe ever.. for $2+ they should be good size. 3rd, I ordered a Tequila on the rocks and they charged me $12 for the Tequila, fine, but then $2 for the rocks? I've been to thousands of Bar/restaurants in my day and have never been charged $2 for ICE ! I wonder if I ordered a coke they'd charge me $2 for the ice... lol. Well 3 Strikes and your out. My money will spend much better elsewhere. /// in regards to your response: You're correct they were oysters, and they were very small for the price charged. Also, as far as the drink. There was no drink menu presented. In fact, we ordered a Margarita first. I asked what flavors they had the waitress had to ask the bartender what flavors were available. As to the tequila, I asked for a "shot" of tequila in a glass over ice. Not a tequila on the rocks, but if explained that there would an upcharge for that I would have passed. As far as the talking to a manager, I never call a manager over because I don't like raising issues in front of your other customers. I just let them do their job as normal to see if it gets better, but it didn't. Also, when I received the bill it was noted on the bottom bill of "service charge" charge for using a credit card. I don't agree with that. I know that's become the standard in most restaurants, but it's just a profit builder that goes well beyond any one restaurant. Just a little information for...
