My wife and I decided to go here after passing by the building for the past several years. We thought it would finally be nice to patronize the local businesses during these trying times. So, we came inside, and Chris came to our table a few minutes later, but we felt very rushed by him, almost as if he's about ready to punch his time card. And he also looked very stressed. We're trying to be friendly with him, and he just gives abrupt, if any, one word answers. I think as customers, a lot of us have experienced that rushed feeling, and that's something that makes us feel very uncomfortable. We told him that we're going to transition to outside dining after we order a couple of beers, which we did. So we ordered a couple more beers, and Chris served them, (and a margarita that has the price of a five-star hotel, which also brings to mind that there's no prices for drinks on the menu). After that, we never saw Chris again. It's like he just disappeared. It wasn't until sometime later that another server, who by the way was very friendly, had asked us if we had ordered. And I had mentioned the fact that Chris was our server and asked also where is he? Well, apparently he got off and never had the courtesy to inform us that another server will be taking care of us. And just a few minutes later, we see him walking around the front sidewalk with what appeared to be his family. If that's the case, I guess that explains why he was in such a rush. Look, we've made the decision to finally patronize a restaurant after over a year of quarantining in our house and eating at home. If this is the type of service that you get, all the hype I hear on TV, and all the encouragement you hear on the news to patronize your local establishments, it's just not true. By the way, as far as the food is concerned, the food was fine, just overpriced for a local bar. The staff in general looks stressed and not very happy. I know myself that with what you hear on the news about covid and the increasing numbers, which by the way is up 11% nationwide, dropping the mask mandate, I believe is the wrong direction to go. If I was a server there, in the back of my mind I would feel stressed because of that alone. I think after this negative experience, most people would stiff the server, or give maybe 5%. Well, that wasn't the case with us because I still made sure I gave a 20% plus tip. Sorry, cannot recommend this...
Read moreDine here! You will not be disappointed! My husband and I were driving around looking for a late night eatery. It was about midnight when we discovered Tavern in the Forest. As we sat in the parking lot I decided to read their Google reviews as I always do with any business. We were pretty impressed so we decided to go in. We were greeted with great music and a fun, clean, late night adult, non smoking atmosphere. Thank God! We asked a waitress could we sit anywhere and she said yes. So we sat down and was instantly greeted by Carlotta, the same waitress that we met coming in! She happily introduced herself and provided us with the late night menu and explained everything to us after we let her know it was our 1st time here and we came in simply off reviews and hunger pains lol, plus we wanted something good other than cookout. As we looked over the menu preparing to order she got our refreshments, water with lemon and a sprite, might I add thank you Tavern for clean cups. We ordered teriyaki and lemon pepper wings, the nachos and loaded fries!! Omg when I say deeeelicious!! Everything was so fresh, hot and finger licking good! My husband and I ate until we were happy! We were literally dancing to the good music while eating! So you know it's good if you dance and eat lol! The servings were also a nice size that we had enough to take home and it was the same delicious on the next day warm up as it was the night before and that speaks volumes! We enjoyed ourselves so much we went back a few days later and requested Carlotta! When she saw my husband and I she remembered our water with lemon and sprite and came without us asking right after we sat down, which was so impressive because she said she knew what we wanted from just 1 visit lol and she was right! We ordered the mushroom and swiss burger with fries and the same wings as before! Yet again so deeeelicious! Carlotta is so attentive and an amazing, fun waitress! This place gave us everything we were looking for and more! We are so glad we live right up the street for good food, fun and now family in our books!! Keep up the great work!! See you all...
Read moreWeâll start with us walking into the place and five servers and hosts being at the host stand just staring at us as we walk in. I think ONE of them actually said hello or welcome. I had to say party of two to get them to stop gawking. We got sat at our table, pretty cozy atmosphere. Our server greeted us and was nice. We ordered bar drinks and waters, received bar drinks and no waters. Bar drinks were definitely built, could tell from no foam from a shaker and alcohol was swirling around at the bottom so you know how it tasted. Ordered our entrees also ordered cheese curds they came out fast and were good and fresh. Still havenât received waters. Our server has passed our table several times at this point. Our food came out but before that I had to flag down our server (she hadnât checked on us or the food, a quick âenjoy your foodâ and whizzed by us), to get us some waters because I couldnât take drinking the alcoholic beverage anymore. Chicken was unseasoned, dry and my partners pulled pork sandwich was straight up ânot goodâ. And he never complains about food, a Marine is just happy to eat. Plate presentation wasnât there either, chicken smudges were all over the plate. Didnât check on our table again until I flagged her down yet again for the tab and a box considering I barely touched my entree. We still had to wait because she had a six top right next to us, so I cut her some slack. As we waited I couldnât help but look over to the bar and bartenders to watch this man continuously stroke his beard while he stocked bar glasses đđI was definitely over the experience after that. Left our cash on the table and just so happened to pass our server on the way out. She didnât even say bye! Worked in restaurants for years and this experience was just unacceptable. Was pretty busy so customers were there so maybe we got the short end of the stick but we more than likely...
