Aug 2023. Finally was in the Socastee area and able to get take-out from one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Prices were a bit higher as to be expected. Egg roll is now $1.90 but they have real pork and shrimp eggrolls unlike many of their competitors. Got the General Tso's chicken, veggie lo mein and their famous pan fried dumplings aka potstickers. They forgot to put my white rice in the bag but I really don't need the calories. Do have those cups of homemade hot mustard! Yummy! Tip - dining area was lukewarm in August so suggest take-out until the weather changes here!
Years earlier: still the same! Great wings--always done crispy, fresh, and meaty. Great Chinese food! Dishes are $1 less than others in MB area. Okay, it's a hole in the wall takeout. However, their food is tasty and delicious and they are extremely quick with orders. Highly recommend their posted specials, see wall above counter, the Chicken w/Black Bean Sauce, Singapore Noodles, Szechuan Shrimp (ask for extra hot/spicy if you want real Szechuan flavor). Today we had the hot and sour soup for the first time--it was perfect and we're former New Yorkers who are addicted to Chinese food. The other day a friend from Conway was following me in her car after we left an assignment. I called her cell to ask her why she was not taking her route home... she confessed she was headed to China Wok... also her favorite! They will DELIVER to local, worthwhile, loyal customers--so join...
Read moreI went to this place a few times when we first moved down in 2009 and the food was barely passable at best back then. I had heard from a few people that they were under new ownership and the food had gotten better. I gave it a try tonight mostly because of the lousy rainy weather so I didnât have to drive too far. They have a sign in the window claiming they serve âNew York Styleâ so being from Brooklyn that excited me just a bit. My order was waiting when I arrived and the place was not very busy which can be a red flag especially on Friday nights. Our wonton soup was fine, and the steamed dumplings were large, just like up north, and tasty. My wife enjoyed her veggie egg foo young and my order of the house special rice noodles was obviously freshly made and good. One thing I look for in Chinese restaurants is how good are the standard fried noodles that they include with most meals. Theirâs were just OK or average at best. However this is a great improvement over the previous ownership and we will give them another try in the near future. Iâm interested in checking out their egg rolls next as that is also an indicator of how good a Chinese...
Read moreWe got pupu platter. Egg roll was pretty good, Teriyaki steak like jerky without the flavor, Very greasy Shrimp toast was overcooked & no shrimp. Chicken wing was okay, crab stick was a very large log of cheap fake crab breaded with no flavor then deep fried, the wonton was dry chewy and mostly wrapper with a tiny trace of something gray. This is my second time visiting this restaurant and it has to be my last. I do not recommend the pupu platter! I had general tsos chicken last time and it was pretty good. The ladies behind the counter wore masks, but the men did not. No other COVID-19 precautions...
