Originally I attempted to place an order over the phone calling the restaurant because their website stated that they deliver. I called the restaurant and stated I’m calling in an order for delivery . The person who answered the phone told me that they don’t take deliveries over the phone and I would have to do it online ( an important detail for later ) . So I placed my order online (2) chicken burritos with rice and beans. (1) chicken enchilada with side salad. (1) quesadilla. When I went to check out for some reason it only showed the price for the (2) burritos but showed all the other items I ordered. I placed the order and shortly after doordash delivered the food. After talking it in the house and opening the bag I found that only 1 burrito was present and the side salad which was supposed to be for the enchilada was no where to be seen but rice and beans were in its place ( wife hates beans). So I called the restaurant and was past around to talk with 3 different people . The last person who was man I recognized the voice from my original call to the restaurant. I advised him of the mistake on the order he told me that it wasn’t their fought and that their order app didn’t charge me for the quesadilla or enchilada anyway. I asked him if the second burrito was going to be delivered and he then blamed it or doordash which had nothing to do with taking the order. So the problem is then blamed on their online system they make you use for delivery but they can view and verify what you ordered over the phone. I would review the quality of the food but since my order was the second burrito which I did not get I can not . I do know that after dealing with their lack of customer service I will never order...
Read moreEl Chepo Taqueria has a traditional, no-frills charm and serves up some seriously flavorful food that makes it worth a visit. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, with a menu full of authentic options — from quesabirrias de res to mole verde and seafood dishes — all written up on a colorful board that adds to the local, homey feel.
The service was okay overall. I went with a friend who speaks Spanish, so most of the communication was between him and our waitress. Because of that, my experience felt a bit limited and not particularly welcoming, as I had to rely on my friend to order and ask questions. Drinks were refilled once, but mine stayed empty for the last half hour while we waited for the check, which took a little away from the overall experience.
On the plus side, the food more than made up for it. We were served thick chips with a great-tasting salsa, and the homemade hot sauce on the table was seriously fiery — the perfect kick for anyone who loves spice.
The Quesabirrias de Res were the star of the meal: tender, flavorful meat wrapped in a soft, cheesy taco-style tortilla and served with a soup on the side. I was expecting the traditional birria dipping sauce, but even without it, the flavor was spot-on and delicious.
In short — the food here is fantastic, and that alone will bring me back. Next time, I’ll be coming with my wife and hoping for a smoother, more welcoming interaction so we can both enjoy the full experience.
Bottom line: Great authentic flavors, solid portions, and one of the best quesabirrias I’ve had — just needs a little improvement on communication and attentiveness to...
Read moreSo the food was great, but the rest is totally weird. The restaurant looked a little sketchy from the outside but I don't ever let that prevent me from entering. We received menus that were bilingual but there are no prices anywhere on any menu. The waitress will tell you the prices if your are interested in knowing... When I questioned why no posted prices she said it's because prices change often. We did order 5 tacos at $2.50 each and they were very good. Beverages, including water are all served in bottles so no free refills here. Chips were served gratis with a green salsa that was original and different. The clientele was mainly Latino and looked like they were regulars and enjoying their meals. They were doing a brisk business of takeout orders as well. The tip was not mandatory as some reviewers had mentioned that it was built into the price... Choose your tip amount like usual. Credit cards are accepted without any surcharge. No bill is brought to the table but you just go to the register and the bill is totalled at that point.. So they have a strange way of running the restaurant but it seems to work for them and their customers. Bottom line... Good food, weird practices so we probably wouldn't return but try it if you want some authentic...
