Atmosphere!!! We frequent DDS while vacationing in Ocean Isle to Myrtle Beach. DDS is located in the MarshWalk of Murrells Inlet. Ask for patio seating. Smaller groups get seated rather quickly. Wait was less than 5 mins. We split our larger group when we went to not wait as long. Parking seems full always, suggest to drop your party off at restaurant then driver parks, don't expect to get front row, make it easier on yourself and pass the gravel lots right in front, go to 1st side street and use the lot off the main road, the walk isn't bad just less waiting to find a spot. Look at signs about validating parking before paying to park. Most places are free once selected on the parking app.
DDS, go before the usual lunch and dinner rushed to avoid waits, eat outside. We typically go when a band is scheduled, arrive 30 mins prior to and enjoy outdoor seating, atmosphere, live music, and the view.
There are many options to choose from from land and sea. Even the non seafood eater can find something to eat.
Staff is attentive, courteous, and willing to answer those questions for those not familiar with local food selections on the menu.
Average meal with drink per person $25-30.
Oh, they provide hushpuppies and dip while you wait for meal. Yum!!
Walked the boardwalk after meal, took photos, sat, and enjoyed the views.
If you plan it right, eat prior at DDS and book the sunset cruise just off the dock next door and continue your evening aboard 21 and over sunset cruise Pie Eyed Parrot.
While dining, you may encounter some pirates! The pirate cruise ship docks in...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our experience here. The dominant decor, walls covered in submissions of peoples’ now-deceased dogs, might be upsetting for some—my wife had to stop looking at them—but I thought they were sweet memorials to their beloved furry family.
The service was good, quick, and our food came out quick especially for how crowded it was. Parking was terrible though—even the overflow was full. We luckily found a single spot that had just opened up right in front of the restaurant. There were some very-open lots nearby but the signs said it required restaurant validation and The Dead Dog Saloon was not one of the restaurants indicated available for validation. You could pay to park, but I think the minimum amount started at $20, which is crazy for dinner and a stroll, and that explains why these paid lots were so empty!
The saloon had both and inside and outside (but covered) bar. While sitting outside would have offered a nicer view, a band started playing and was extremely loud, so would not have enjoyed our meal had we been out there at that time. You can access the marsh walk by going through the back/outside bar.
I had the chargrill ribeye. I thought it was great—cooked just right and good flavor. Hush puppies were surprisingly good! They looked a little different than the typical spherical hush puppies and just had a better overall flavor. The honey butter was a nice touch as well. The wife had the blue crab nachos supreme and said they were good.
I’d definitely go back and try other items if we make it down to Murrel’s Inlet again...

Food - EXCELLENT 👌 The tea was sweet, the hush puppies were howling good, and the HUGE serving of blue crab crispy nachos with mango and avocado made my lil tail wag with joy woof woof
Location/parking - right in the heart of the strip. I was blessed 🙏 and snagged a coveted spot by the front door but right across the street there is plenty more parking
Atmosphere - FUN beach Carolina casual. While I was waiting for my table (which only took 15 minutes on a Wednesday night) I went to hear the live band play and they were fabulous! They were a real crowd pleaser 👏LOVED all the memorial pictures of the fur babies that have gone across rainbow bridge
Attire - day anything including swim suit WITH cover up ~ evening casual, beach attire with anything from shorts/jeans and flip flops to a smart casual date night dress/golf pants - it is a bit breezy "when the sun goes down" so consider a jacket or sweater if your shoulders tend to get chilly
Security - lots of solid easily identifiable security personnel stationed at the front door and in the back by the rear bar /live entertainment so I felt safe and could relax
Service - the service was friendly, helpful, and my server got every single lil detail exactly right (like no onions, no lemon in my tea, and brought out an extra small plate)! I just love it when I feel heard and cared for ❣️
Sorry I didn't get pictures of the beautiful presentation of the food but I just blessed it and...
