Our recent visit to Golden Bay Seafood was a mixed experience. Upon arrival, we waited a few minutes before being greeted by a hostess. Considering the size of our party, the hostess worked to gather tables and prepare them, but rather than leading us to our seats, she simply pointed us in the direction of where to sit.
The food itself was nothing special. While it was cooked adequately, nothing about it wowed us. The preparation and taste were mediocre at best, lacking any standout flavors or unique touches. It felt like the food was simply prepared, with no notable seasoning or culinary flair. For a seafood restaurant, we expected something more memorable.
On the bright side, the rest of the staff was friendly and accommodating, and we received our food quickly. We ordered a variety of items, but unfortunately, none stood out. The restaurant's environment was pleasant, and the speed of service was impressive, but without exceptional food, it didn't elevate the overall experience.
While we appreciated the prompt service and friendly demeanor of the waitstaff, there wasn’t anything about this visit that would compel us to return soon. Golden Bay Seafood has potential, but this time around, it missed the...
Read moreNice and pleasant service. Good food! It was hot and fresh. I was craving fish. I ordered a seafood two item combo of perch and baby shrimp with fries and a house salad. My significant other ordered the Alaskan cod with vegetables. Salads came out quickly and were acceptable. Ranch dressing was a little too thin. Main entree came out and to my surprise I only had one piece of perch. My s.o. was shocked too. The cook explained I got the lunch special. The dinner special comes with more fish. I upgraded to the dinner special. Surprisingly I only received one more piece of perch for $4 more. Thankfully I received plenty of baby shrimp. Everything else was adequately portioned. My s.o. enjoyed his meal outside of the vegetables. He clearly got some of the worst pieces in the frozen bag. He said there was little to no seasoning on it and it was tasteless. Overall, we’re impressed. No regrets. If we’re in the area again and decide to return, we would order...
Read moreThe building is freshly painted. However, the furnishings on the inside are very dated and remnants of the old Mexican restaurant can still be seen. It's not fancy but it is clean. It appears to be family run and they were friendly. The prices were fair for the amount of food received. One odd thing I noticed is that soft drinks cost a bit more and, according to the menu, they only provide one free refill. I don't know how strict they follow that as I got tea, but I always get multiple refills on my drink while eating, so this could be problematic for some. The batter on the shrimp and fish is light. The hush puppies and Cole slaw are similar to what I've had elsewhere and I like them. Potatoes were fine. The tartar sauce was a little sweet to me and the cocktail didn't seem as flavorful as some, but it was fine. We may very well go back. There aren't alot of seafood restaurants...
