Cheesy Jager Schnitzel and Flavorful Potato Soup 🍲 😎😀
As an avid lover of German cuisine, I was thrilled to discover Julia's German Stammtisch in Columbia, South Carolina. This cozy little restaurant offers an authentic taste of Germany, and I had the pleasure of indulging in their Cheesy Jager Schnitzel and flavorful Potato Soup, both of which left a lasting impression.
Let's start with the star of the show: the Cheesy Jager Schnitzel. This dish is a true delight for cheese and meat lovers alike. The schnitzel itself was perfectly breaded and cooked to golden perfection, maintaining a juicy and tender texture on the inside. The rich, earthy flavors of the Jager sauce added a delightful twist to the traditional schnitzel experience. But what truly stole the show was the generous amount of gooey, melted cheese blanketing the schnitzel. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of flavors that left me wanting more. The dish was served with a side of warm, buttery spaetzle and fresh seasonal vegetables, which complemented the schnitzel beautifully.
Moving on to the Potato Soup, it was a warm and comforting bowl of goodness. The soup boasted a creamy and velvety texture, with chunks of perfectly cooked potatoes adding a delightful heartiness to every spoonful. The flavors were well-balanced, with a hint of herbs and spices that elevated the overall taste. It was clear that the soup was made with care and attention to detail, and it provided a satisfying start to the meal or a delightful standalone option.
Aside from the exceptional dishes, the service at Julia's German Stammtisch was warm and attentive. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful suggestions and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The cozy and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall charm, making it an ideal spot for a casual lunch or an intimate dinner.
While Julia's German Stammtisch delivered an impressive culinary experience, I do wish there were more vegetarian options on the menu to cater to a wider range of preferences. Nonetheless, their Cheesy Jager Schnitzel and Potato Soup were definite highlights, showcasing the skill and passion of the chefs.
In conclusion, Julia's German Stammtisch is a gem in Columbia, offering an authentic taste of Germany. Whether you're craving a hearty and cheesy schnitzel or a comforting bowl of potato soup, this restaurant delivers in terms of flavor and ambiance. I highly recommend paying a visit to this culinary haven for a memorable dining experience that will transport your taste buds to the...
Read moreI recently visited Julia's German Stammtisch and had a fantastic experience. We started with the Sample Plate Appetizer, which included pretzels, schnitzel fingers, bratwurst, and knackwurst. Everything on the plate was delicious, especially the schnitzel fingers with their crispy coating and tender meat. The pretzel was soft and perfectly salted, and the cheese sauce paired wonderfully with it.
For soups, we tried the Goulash Soup and the Potato Soup. The Goulash Soup had a rich flavor and a pleasant spice level, more of a pepper spiciness than a hot spiciness. It was really enjoyable.
In addition to our appetizer and soups, we also tried the German Salads as part of our main entrees at Julia's German Stammtisch. I must say, they were really good! The salads were fresh, flavorful, and authentically German. They added a refreshing touch to our meal and complemented the other dishes perfectly. Overall, the salads were a delightful addition to our dining experience.
The highlight of our meal was the Cheezy Jäger Schnitzel. The schnitzel itself was amazing, and the cheese and gravy added a delightful combination of flavors. The cheese sauce at Julia's is truly outstanding and complemented every dish we had.
The restaurant had a charming atmosphere, with German decorations throughout and German music playing in the background. It really added to the overall experience and made us feel like we were in Germany.
The staff at Julia's German Stammtisch were extremely friendly and provided excellent service. They were attentive and made sure we had a great time.
I highly recommend Julia's German Stammtisch for delicious German cuisine, a welcoming atmosphere, and friendly staff. It's a great place to enjoy authentic...
Read moreThis really saddens me as I have been a weekly customer for over 6 years. The fact that Julia's has been open for over 6 years and still will not accept AT LEAST a debit card is just ridiculous and frugal. On top of this cash only policy lasting for way too long, Julia's has raised the price of the double decker by $5!!!! I would understand this upcharge of $5 if it was with payment via American Express but the fact that it is two slices of breaded pork with a slice of ham (note: pork/ham is the CHEAPEST meat of all) is just unacceptable. I would also be ok if the $5 upcharge was if you replaced the pork with veal.
To add to the decay of Julia's, the servers are usually pleasant but too chatty I can never enjoy a peaceful meal so I've resorted to take-out solely. On top of this don't ever ask for extra mushrooms or extra anything because the staff/family of Julia refuse to alter any order...even though the restaurant business is to please the customer.
I went to Julia's this month with some friends to celebrate a birthday and the staff told us we could not eat a cake there unless we purchase a slice of theirs. Even though Julia's did not have a whole cake for sale we explained our reasoning for bringing a cake because most places don't have whole cakes available as they did. They still refused explaining "they are not mcdonalds". But Last month for my birthday at Cola's there was no problem with me bringing a cake as this is a real fancy restaurant and Julia's is now a cash only casual BBQ kind of environment.
I like the schnitzel but it's not worth the pain of dealing with annoying staff nor the new ridiculous prices. Sad to see Julia's...
