My family and I visited the Lugoff House of Pizza this evening. We’ve been there countless times and always enjoyed the experience, but today’s visit was quite different. As the three of us were placing our orders, my wife pointed to the chicken salad on the menu. The waitress asked if she wanted the “mayonnaise” chicken or the grilled. This wording was confusing, as my wife intended to order fried chicken on the salad. She asked for clarification, and the waitress explained that it was mayo-based. Misinterpreting this to mean the base of the breading, my wife ordered accordingly.
When the food arrived, what was brought out was chicken salad on top of lettuce, which was not at all what was expected based on the explanation. My wife tried it but didn’t care for it, so she asked a different employee to let our waitress know we needed her. The employee looked down and asked what the issue was. My wife explained the issue and that she didn’t like the salad. The employee responded by saying she didn’t accept that it was bad because other customers order and enjoy it. She also kept saying that what was being asked for was different than what was there - which we were more than aware of! She further stated that the restaurant’s policy does not allow returning a dish simply for not liking it. Eventually, she took the order back and brought out fried chicken instead, but her body language clearly showed she was upset that someone didn’t like the dish.
I understand the need to limit customers from returning dishes they try at random. However, this was clearly a communication issue, as fried chicken on the salad wasn’t even mentioned as a third option. For an employee to tell a customer that they “don’t accept” their dislike of a dish was inappropriate.
Overall, the restaurant is usually good, but be very cautious when trying something new—and definitely don’t complain if you don’t like it. My family and I are unlikely to return after...
Read moreOrdered the Beef tips&rice (cooked well done). After eating 2 pieces of meat, learning that my beef tips were not properly cooked to my liking (well done), told the waitress, she apologized for the problem taking the food off my table. She later returned with my beef tips&rice looking over the plate I noticed that this looks like the same meat that was on the first plate of food, sadly it was. After questioning the waitress about what appeared to be the same food, she said "it is" (where they do this type of unsanitary practice at, you don't take food that someone has eaten off of and put it back on your grill and serve it again, the same grill in which your cooking other customers food on, if you mess up someone's order then that is your loss not the customers. The wife of the owner of lugoff house of pizzia said that it was ok for them to take food of someones plate and put it back on the grill.. I dont thinks so mrs Lady! After asking for a refund because clearly i wasnt eating that food. The wife went running around to the table where i sat to see if i had eaten the food. She returned to the cash register ("I'm going to charge you half because you have eaten some") really I consumed 2 pieces of half cooked beef that came from your kitchen that was supposed to be well done. this clearly shows how some business owners will do anything to save money, even if it means putting your health at risk...that's shameful. #Dhec...

Called to let them know about the errors, and the man that had the conversation with me said, (I remember the order I took it). He offered to take my name down for next time. I explained that we live almost in NC, so I don't know how that will work.
I grew up on LHOP, so I know mistakes happen and are corrected in-house. However, I feel I should have been refunded for the items I didn't get. It was paid with a debit card, one of the first orders that day, and the receipt has a batch number, so it definitely could have been adjusted.
Never will get take out again. If I don't have time to dine in the we will...
