The place was nasty, the waitress only interested in getting us to leave, and the chef ok. Most Japanese places will add a tip automatically if you have a party of a certain size, this place adds a 17% gratuity for parties of 1 or more. That’s actually written in the menu AND they charge sales tax on a mandatory tip.
The sushi was an absolute disgrace and so poorly prepared it should be called rice patties. They also charge more than a dollar per piece for their rolls.
Frankly we wish we left when the waitress asked us and she tried to motivate us in that direction by not refilling the drinks. When I mentioned we needed a refill (after sitting for 15 minutes empty) she acted offended that we dared to ask and said, “I’m getting it”
This place also charges fifty cents for tap water. I’d not go here ever again.
I thought I'd add, that when we called twice prior to arriving we asked if they had Apple Saki since it isn't available everywhere. The first time the person answering the phone didn't know what Saki was, and the second they said they did. Automatic 17% tip added to check no matter what your party size. Food was not very fresh--especially for the price--- but tasted OK. Did not have the same selection of sauces that most Japanese steak houses like this have. Place was visually run down.I felt like this was a mistake before going into the restaurant, but the family was starving and we were committed.

Walking in, we were greeted warmly. Tina (our server) knew the menu well and informed us of ALL possible substitutions, without issue. She spoke with such elegance, incredibly professional. Our food...oh my goodness...fresh! The vegetables completely caught me off guard-and I'm not a huge vegetable person. My almighty John was side-swipped by the 🍜...the broth filed him up and he thoroughly enjoyed it. It smelled heavenly. The plum wine? Your girl had to have two glasses of it, lol!
