Slim Chickens — Restaurant in South Carolina

Do you love juice and tasty chicken!?!? Well if you do…I’ve got a place to write off your list….Slim Chickens. I was VERY excited to try this place and was extremely let down. Before we get into the nitty gritty; let me give a huge shoutout to the staff there.

The PRO’s Staff: They were extremely friendly and efficient with the ordering system all the way up to the food delivery while in the drive-through. I’d say I waited about 7mins or so; totally acceptable…if somebody doesn’t want to wait a few mins, make your own damn food! Thank you for the wonderful service, y’all were great.

The CON’s Literally everything else. Wait, I lied…the Sprite was a good year. The toast: I’m absolutely confident that if BP has another oil spill; they can put a slice of the toast in the water and could blame it on the toast. It smelled really good, but one bite was like a flood of oil, I actually took a small piece off and squeezed it and multiple drops of grease/oil came out of it…it was gross. The chicken: if you like shake n bake and chicken which has been cooked to death five times over - you might …MIGHT….like this. Additionally, the chicken itself, had no flavor, it just tasted like shake n bake. Also really bad. Slim Sauce: I don’t know what the recipe is; but I’m pretty sure it’s made out of granny’s bath water…it was so gross.

The Meh: The fries were okay, nothing spectacular, but also not terribly bad.

In the end, two meals: seven pieces of chicken, four slices of toast and a couple handfuls of fries…one and a half chicken tender were consumed, two bites of bread and some fries. The garbage can ate well tonight.

On Tuesday, September 16, 3025, at approximately 1259 hours I, Dante G., responded to The Slim Chickens located at 451 North US Highway 52, which is in the jurisdiction of the town of Moncks Corner, county of Berkeley, and state of South Carolina, in reference to an animal complaint, specifically sightings of a large, aggressive black dog.

Upon my arrival, I entered the building via the outward opening door centrally located on the D-side of the building. I moved directly to the point of sale, was met by Sheryl, and ordered a classic meal adequately described as containing 4 chicken fingers, fries, and a fountain drink. I chose honey barbecue as my tossin' sauce as well as my dippin' sauce.

I located a two top and took a seat. A few moments later, my meal was delivered.

The tenders were wonderfully moist and perfectly fried. There was not an excess of sauce. The fries were crunchy outside, soft inside. The drink was Cherry Coke. I went back for a $7.76 banana pudding. It came in a branded mason type jar with lid, so it was worth it. It tasted wonderful.

The staff were just as amazing as the food. I was disappointed, however, at a lack of memorabilia of Son House or Robert Johnson. Nothing from Greenwood or Clarksdale, MS. No Highway 49 or Highway 61 references.

Thankfully, I also found no indications of large black dogs, just amazing food.

The cashier was not knowledgeable. Kelsey M. was my cashier that was not aware of the form of payments accepted by her employer. I was given a $50 gift card for recognition at work and decided that I would treat my family for dinner. Apparently Slim Chicken doesn't accept gift cards that don't have a chip but instead of Kelsey making this information known, she came to the window with a smirk on her face saying, " the card keeps declining". I assured her that the card was new and never used so she again said with a smirk on her face i will try again. Needless to say the card still didn't go through and Kelsey responded again with a smirk on her face, " the card is declining ". At this point I'm frustrated because I knew funds were on the card because it was a new card that I just received but instead of going back and forth I just used my debit card. After paying with my debit card, I requested to speak with a manager. The manager was very polite and explained that the declined had nothing to do with funds being available but the fact that the gift card I was using was not accepted due to their payment machine. The point of this review, is this young lady wasted 5 minutes of my time with the attempt to make me feel embarrassed for my card declining when she simply should have advised that the gift card I was attempting to use was not accepted at this...
