I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible experiences my family and I have had at your establishment. We've been part of the Southern Growl family long before you moved into your new home on Buncombe Rd, and every visit feels like a mini vacation for us.

As a family of four—my wife, our two boys, and myself—we look forward to our weekly visits to the Growl. It's become a cherished tradition for us, and we always find an excuse to stop by throughout the week. Lately, we've been enjoying your delightful brunch menu on the weekends. The fact that you are kid-friendly is a significant factor for us, and we appreciate the balance you've struck with adult-only sections as well.

When it comes to food and drinks, your variety and quality never cease to amaze us. I'm particularly fond of the chicken sandwich with American cheese and the Hop Flower Superpower to drink. And here's a little tip from me - try the beermosa version with pomegranate, it's fantastic! Kudos to the kitchen staff for putting their heart and soul into every dish they create. I had the pleasure of attending a pairing menu dinner before, and it was a five-star experience I will never forget. The creativity and unique ingredient combinations in your menu always leave us in awe.

Of course, what truly makes the Southern Growl special is the incredible team behind the bar. From day one, they have made us feel like close friends, if not part of the family. Whether it's recommending the perfect beer pairing or offering a sample, the team always goes above and beyond. I want to give a special shoutout to Leslie, Amanda, Bob, Roxy, Ryan, Michael, Matt, Cam, Jess!, Darby, Michelle, and Nik – you are the true face of the operation and excel in every interaction. Your exceptional customer service sets you apart and makes every visit memorable.

Thank you all for making the Southern Growl a place we look forward to visiting each week. Keep up the fantastic work, and we can't wait to see you soon!

PS – If you haven’t already, ask about the Dope Ass Beer Glass Society next time you stop...

Good food, and a nice fun atmosphere, very casual and laid-back. Would be nice to have a larger selection of food, but they at least have a burger you can get everyday now, and they rotate items on the menu. The new location is much improved over the old, with a lot more space, but it has brought more customers, and they need even more indoor space. Desperately need a waiting area when the weather is too hot or inclement. They are building a large outdoor area, with a large bar, which will help, but only for nice days. The food is really tasty, and reasonably priced along with the beer, which has a large selection, and they have added mixed drinks as well. Two areas that could use improve: 1. no waiting area inside, you have to try to find a space where you are not in the way, or standing over someone eating, etc. Not an issue if nice outside, but otherwise, not enough room, needs a 2nd bar/waiting area inside. 2. I don't like the lines like a fast food restaurant, and there are two, one for ordering, one for pick up, which is not apparent. If there is going to be "wait to be seated", then have wait staff to take orders and serve the food to the table, like any decent restaurant. If you have lines, then first come first serve. You basically have to wait for a table, then wait in line to order, then wait in line to pick it up, or you might end up with your food and no table. Also they have the touch to pay kiosks, with the tip options. I tip 20% for a waitperson taking my order and serving me at a table, coming back to check, refills, etc. I don't tip at a McDonalds for standing in line and someone taking my order... I like the place overall, and will be back. I think they are suffering from growing pains a bit, and with some changes could be a 5 star casual dinning place. I give 3 for the " lack of waiting area/lines/no waitperson", and 4.2 for the...

Not worth the $15

This could have been a great place to grab a beer.

The design of the space is excellent (except, there could be corn hole or other team activities in the outdoor space and not a bunch of Adirondack chairs).

What was not excellent was the staff. We came at 4pm on a Thursday (when they open).

The “hostess” did unlock the door for us, but didn’t attempt to greet us, open the door, or take the opportunity to let two people come in out of the rain.

As we walked in, this person didn’t try to welcome us, they instead gave us a table number and sent off to fend for ourselves.

The person that took our order at the bar, said hello, and welcomed us, but don’t think to take an opportunity to inform us on the menu, options, or any kind of service or product they offer, when I mentioned that this was our first time visiting.

When we sat down, the only time someone came by was to collect our empty glasses, without speaking to us to ask if we wanted another beer, anything to eat, or a glass of water.

I hope the owner is reading these reviews. Because you have created a great space. But your staff, as a team, is unacceptable.

We also saw a family of three walk out after 10 minutes. Without being served or helped.

I’ve worked in the service industry - there is no reason why we should have had the experience we had.

It costs more to go out and do anything now, the staff should have taken SOME initiative to make it a welcoming and fun atmosphere. It’s not hard to say hello and make that initial...

It’s a local micro brewery. Had one type of beer and it was excellent (intentionally not commenting on the pricing of the beer. it’s a microbrewery and we get the costs involved). Nice industrial/warehouse type building with long glass garage doors as windows. Huge outdoors area. There is a restaurant/ maybe “gastro pub”. The menu is adequate and well put together for the “beer drinkers” and the “food eaters”. The food was tasty and fresh. I was surprised to see children but it is my perceived opinion (and not necessarily one to be shared) that such places best serve small or large adults, coworkers or friends out for a drink (and decent food) after work, before a dinner, beer tasting or buying, a dating alternative. Everything was good. The “elevated” pricing of the food items, minuscule portions and lack of waiter’s table service - you order at the counter and seat yourself- are the reasons of the 3.5 stars. Sandwiches close o $11 (I never had one at that price, not even the 1lb pastrami at Stage Deli in NYC), fries $4.95 or $7.95 (unacceptable even at hand cut) pretzels, soup at $4.95 priced competitive but half a bowl, two cooked entrée small plates (operative word is small) at $10-$13, beer bread $4.95 (5 slices or abt 1/4 loaf!). Ok enough! I clearly understand that this is a revenue generator and marketing tool for breweries and wineries alike. We will go again for a beer. We recommend you visit.

Finally had a day to swing by here and check it out. The parking lot was always packed when we drove by. Large building with a large outdoor area. Multiple fire pits, benches, lounge chairs. With all the outdoor space I was surprised no games like bag toss or horseshoes something. You order beer and food at the counter. Huge selection of local draft, our two favorites were the flower power IPA and the black coffee nitro we tasty and fresh. The food wasn't bad we had wings with a passonfruit Buffalo sauce damn good and the wings were huge. Also had the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, tasty but a lil dry on the burger. My reason for the 3 starts is while the food was tasty, beer was good and cold large variety and location was very accommodating to any crowd size THE PRICES. Too much money for a place all the way up in Greer. Once again the boujie bug thats ruined downtown Greenville eateries has made its way up to GREER. This is the reason we don't eat out in the Greenville area anymore. Everything is way overpriced. Come on, its not NYC its Greenville SC! Lower the prices to something more reasonable and well be back. Until then catch us in Western NC near Sylva, Brevard, Franklin, Black Mountain, John City TN, Bristol TN where food is just as good or better for half the price.

In a nutshell: food is good, but not amazing. Prepare to spend roughly $15 per person for a family. The atmosphere and drink selection make it more of a hang out joint for a group of adults... if they stayed open later it would probably be a good night life location. Burgers are cooked right and moist, but have mostly basic/typical flavors. The bun was a step above average and probably my favorite part of the burger. The pickles were really good (I believe they said they were home made?) but overall it was just average. The honey chicken sandwich came out absolutely dripping with melted sauce, there was a pool in the bottom of the container. The fries were swimming in it (not necessarily a bad thing). The hotdog meat to bun ratio was probably 1:3, my kid wouldn't even eat it until I removed half the bun. I thought rhe bun was good though, it was some kind of sliced bread rather then a traditional hotdog bun. The hot dog it's self was a basic hot dog. The fries look/taste home made. They could stand to be a bit crispier but taste good - I really have no complaints about them. My only real gripe is the luke warm water that is self serve. I don't mind the self serve aspect but there should at least be an ice machine or the water should dispense cold/chilled.
