Harts Deli — Restaurant in South Daytona

What can I say. I had my mind blown. This unassuming location was quality from the minute you walked in until the final bite. First thing you notice is how clean the place is. How functional every space is. The boards were clean current and updated. The second thing you notice is how heavenly the place smells! The staff was friendly, considerate and had their attention on the customers. The prices were very reasonable. In fact, for what I got I felt like I got away with something. Their motto is "big sandwiches with a side of love"... well that is how lunch made me feel. The food was, for lack of a better word(s), perfect, perfect perfect!. The staff took care with the preparation. The ingredients we fresh, fresh, fresh. There was no question on the quality of the ingredients. From the rye bread, (who has rye bread nowadays?), to the smoked salmon... on another sandwich the Swiss cheese and roast beef, even the vegetables were neat and placed on the sandwich in a very deliberate and tasty way.

I know, I know I am really being complementary here. When you have a lunch like I had you feel like you had a "food hug". That is how I feel... all warm and satisfied. Well done to the staff. Your business model and the way you are running the business will set you up for years to come with customers like me... first time customer.... turned repeat customer.. 5 months later.... I know you are probably expecting a bunch of "they used to do this better" material.... Nope. The team at Hart's just keeps hitting it out of the park. They only get better as time goes by. "Finally!!!!"... my inner voice screams... restaurant owners that understand what people want and then make it happen... consistently. Ya-hoooo!

I eat at Harts 2-4 times a week. Erica and Dave do a great job. Since my first review they have switched to Boars Head deli meat... which I love. They picked great quality cuts to stack their deli case with too. Another change was to the menu. Keeping the deli experience fresh and exciting the team at Harts added some incredibly delectable sandwich options and changed the weekly specials. You can order your sandwich they way you like it or you can pick some of the specialty sandwiches they have. One thing I have come to learn is when you walk though those doors you are dealing with sandwich aficionados. They know what goes good together, so for me, I usually get a specialty sandwich. Everything I have tried is exceptional. This week tried the Chicken Hawk, and the Barber Shop Special. Both sandwiches were unique and very tasty. I thought I might cry, (tears of joy), after tasting the Barber Shop Special... it was THAT good.

Harts has also added more side items, bakery items, and there is always something interesting to chose from in the drink coolers. I love the variety. The staff is always friendly, which is a nice change from the "blank stare of apathy" you get at most places these days. Erica always checks to make sure I like my sandwich. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. I have been craving a great Deli sandwich for a while now. I have had multiple people tell me about Hart's. Let me just say, there's no reason to go anywhere else. First of all, the food is absolutely delicious. I bought a Joey Da Meatball sub (amazing), Disco Dave (mojo pork sub which is also amazing), and a Reuben. I have been searching for the past two weeks for the best Reuben and I finally found it. I had two others recently (one was terrible and one was alright) and this blows both of them out of the water. I have yet to try the Balboa but I would bet bet anything that it is like the other three. Also, pasta salad, potato salad, and coleslaw are fantastic. I haven't tried the banana bread or brownie yet but I've already heard they are delicious as well. Furthermore, the price is extremely reasonable. Lastly, and just as important as the food, was the staff. I had two women take my order, make my order, and cash me out. The nicest staff you could ask for. They were both so sweet, helpful, and fun. This goes hand in hand with my previous experiences at another unnamed deli where they were anything but friendly. Between the delicious food, great price point, and lovely staff, why go anywhere else? Hart's just found another regular....

I flew in from Austin Texas to visit momma who still lives in the same house I grew up in a few blocks from the new deli. Driving past it back in SD after years away, I pointed at the deli asking about it. She never noticed the deli was even there she mentioned before I asked "how long it's been open"? Well... last Friday, my mom was at the store and walked over for a menu. Seeing the daily special and price, she went ahead and ordered the Chicken Salad Sandwich. Needless to say she enthusiastically told me all about how welcoming everyone was to her and how delicious her sandwich was. Ranting and raving about how thick each slice was using her fingers to show me how tall it was...lol...!

I just want to thank y'all for making her day. She has been battling a few different medical conditions over the last couple years and naturally that is hard for anyone to stay positive daily ya know. So anything to make her feel great or set her up for an awesome weekend is ACES in my books... So thanks again to everyone at Harts Deli and next visit she said that both Twins are going with her for...
