Randall House Restaurant on Randall Rd by Jewel has lost itās decency, quality of care, & a long time customer.
My mom & I went for breakfast, Iāve struggled recently with some health issues. Eating is a struggle. Iāll ask if I can order from kids menu. If no, then no. Iām good with it. Itās their policy. But today was not a good day for me. So my mom ordered from the senior menu I ordered reg menu. When the food came my order made me sick to my stomach (it happens A LOT). I asked for an additional plate to take some food from my moms plate. So we where going to switch/sharing. The waitress said āif you eat any of that food Iām charging u regular price not senior!ā I tried to say why, but she stormed off. I went speak to mgr(?) maybe hostess idk and the waitress came and interrupted me. So I said āok, cancel my order!ā Waitress yelled āFine whatever!ā
I canāt share food from my moms plate. I would have gladly paid the additional cost. But the senior plate comes with less food. So no you will not charge me for food not given.
However, at another table, SAME WAITRESS, allowed a white guy to substitute on his senior order. Even though it state āNO SUBSTITUTIONS.ā Hmmmmmm
So itās ok for a white person to substitute, but not for me who just wanted to SHARE FOOD because of health issues. Iām not crying racism, but if it looks like a duckā¦
I wish them the best, but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy girlfriend suggested this restaurant as she had eaten there previously, and loves one of their omelets.
We arrived there late morning on a Saturday. She already knew what she wanted. The day we were there, two of the specials where a Country Fried Steak skillet and a Taco Skillet.. Man, that's just not right. IT's like making you choose which child is your favorite. We were seated immediately and our server introduced herself. She was very nice and answered questions. She helped me choose between which skillet to get. I went with the Country Fried Steak Skillet.
Our food was delivered in a timely manner. The portions are huge. My girlfriend ate a third of her omelet, I ate about half of my skillet. Any more and I would have been painfully full. My skillet was good. I enjoyed it, It's not go out of your way for delicious, but it's good, better than average. Same with her omelet. She ranted over it...which is what is important. I thought it was good, but I've had better.
The service was good. She was attentive and made sure we had everything. She did forget to put in a side order of Bacon that I ordered... but honestly that was okay as I had too much food and they didn't charge us for it. She was very apologetic, and it was an honest mistake.
The price was good too, especially for the portion size. They're definitely worth...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was excited to try out the food, especially the pancakes, since the reviews were so high, but I was actually quite disappointed with what I got. The service was nice and quick, and I liked my breakfast sandwich, but, unfortunately, for a pancake house, the pancakes were pretty disappointing. I'd even go as far as say that they were below average. I believe I've had better ordering from McDonald's.
I like to compare my experiences at breakfast places and pancake houses to Lou Mitchell's as I have yet to go to a place with better tasting pancakes. This place certainly does not hold up to that standard, and their food is actually more expensive than a similar order at Lou Mitchell's. I suppose this place has more appeal for senior citizens as I'm seeing quite a few advertised senior citizen discounts, but since I am not a senior, I cannot take advantage of any of these offers. Also, they seem to have coupons on their website that I wish I had noticed before spending so much here.
While it did fill me up, because of the price and the lackluster pancakes, I am unfortunately going to have to give Randall's Pancake House a 2.5/5 on the Lou Mitchell's scale. It's a shame because I would be more than happy to support a family owned business over a chain, but I'm not seeing anything special for me that this place...
