What really sets Pita BBQ apart is the people. The employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming, going out of their way to make sure you have a great experience. During my visit, I had the chance to chat and laugh with the staff, which added a personal touch that you don’t often find in many restaurants. The owner, Shahzad, was also present, and he was as laid-back and approachable as you could hope for. His passion for the food and commitment to quality shine through in every aspect of the restaurant.

They told us they have to get around to changing the menu sign. I doubt we"ll make the long trip again but for locals it's worth stopping in.
I wish I could give TEN stars!! We travel almost 18 miles to visit this place, and we do it close to once a week. Having lived in Greece for some time, I developed a real passion for dolmades, gyros, tzatziki, marinated vegetables and the like. Disappointed that there are no such cuisines near here, we discovered Middle Eastern food and holy cow do these folks know how to cook! We have tried many of the dishes, but mostly order the vegetarian platter, since it has our favorites. Best hummus I ever ate. I couldn't get my husband to eat babaganouj until he tried it here, now it's a favorite. It's just done right! The dolam, one of my all time favorite foods are perfect. The salads completely fresh and very flavorful. The schawarmas are incredibly flavorful. The servings are very generous. And let me tell you, the people here are awesomely hard-working, eager to satisfy customers, and really, really lovely people. If I lived closer, I would quit cooking and just eat there daily. Try this place. You cannot go wrong if you enjoy healthy eating, delicious cooking, and a pleasant environment. Keep it up, Pita Barbeque! And please open a store in McHenry...
Read moreOne of my very favorite places to eat! My favorite is the chicken shawarma and my husband's is the chili chicken (it's spicy). Make sure you get garlic sauce. It comes on the side and is sooooo yummy! The garlic fries are awesome as well; especially if you dip them in the garlic sauce. Reasonably priced and better food than any expensive, fancy, sit down dining Mediterranean place I've ever been to. Also, the people are ridiculously friendly ever single time I go there.
*UPDATE: My friends and I drive from Geneva just to go here. Everytime we have parties, we do catering from here. The menu changed. The portions are smaller. The salad has changed and the lettuce added to it is soggy. The garlic fries, our favorite thing on the menu, are gone. We are all bummed. We haven't did the catering since the changes so I can't speak for that, but it's lost it's appeal to us. While I will still go there if I'm in the area, the drive itself is no longer worth it. At least they kept the...
