I'm a bit conflicted about how to write this review, and I'll explain why in a bit. Pollo Campero was originally established in Guatemala, and since I'm from Guatemala, I wanted to treat my parents to our favorite restaurant from when we used to live there. I hosted a PPV event last night and decided to visit the nearest Pollo Campero, which happened to be the one in South Gate. As you walk in, you're greeted with the enticing scent of their delicious fried chicken.

I ordered their 20-piece family meal with all fried and mixed chicken, along with mac and cheese, plantains, rice, beans as sides, and 12 empanadas. The lady at the register offered their special of four empanadas for $7 and honored it for the 12 that I ordered, which I thought was really nice of her. The total for this meal came out to be $103, which I felt was a good deal. The ambiance had the typical Pollo Campero vibe, and it was super busy on this Saturday afternoon. It took about 15 minutes for my order to be prepared, and I double-checked everything was there before heading home.

Here's where things got a bit confusing. When I unpacked my bags, I noticed that the containers for the sides didn't look like a family-size portion, meaning it didn't seem like it was meant to feed "20 people." Since I was expecting 15 people for the event, my wife ended up making some more rice, beans, and mashed potatoes.

The food itself was delicious as alway,s. My family enjoyed it so much that we didn't have any leftovers. It was our first time trying the empanadas, and they were delightful, with plenty of chicken and flavor. The sides were also flavorful, and the plantains were crunchy and sweet.

Overall, the customer service and food quality were perfect. The portion size for a family meal appears to be a corporate issue rather than a problem with this specific restaurant, so I'm giving it five stars. I'll...

First time at this place on a Sunday afternoon. First, it was packed and the line to order food was long. As I was waiting in line I noticed that the workers were overwhelmed and there seemed like a sense of confusion with getting orders ready. When I finally got to the register, I placed my order (4 Piece meal with two sides and a drink) to go and was told that it would be about a 20 to 25 minute wait to get my food. I placed my order at around 2:30pm. 20 minutes then turned into 30. As I still waited for my order, I noticed another line begin to form but this time the line was for customers who had been waiting and asking where there order was. I could hear the employee tell the customers that they had ran out of chicken and had to wait for more chicken to be cooked. 40 minutes passed and I noticed an order which resembled mine on a tray to be served at a table. The tray was on the counter for 15 minutes until a worker picked it up and called out, "Number 361!", which was my order. I politely told the worker that it was mine and I had ordered it to go. I also told her it had been sitting there for 15 minutes and wanted a fresh order. I watched her tell another employee something in regards to my order. The other employee then gave me fresh chicken and mashed potatoes but the same cold fries. At this point it was over an hour of me waiting and I didn't want to complain about the fries. I just wanted my food and wanted to leave. I could have gone to KFC and gotten my food in 5 minutes instead of over an hour. Needless to say I will never...

over the weekend I had birthday party so we ordered food to be delivered by postmate the order was 40 chicken and 60 pieces of bread and fries and claw slow after 2 hours it took for delivery so you you guys when you have people for birthday party you have to make sure food is ready which once we opened the claw slow was half full but we were checking the bread was missing So we called them back after they changed us $162.38 bread was missing and they said that there's no order for bread and for us to get the bread we have to wait another 90 minutes which its 1 1/2 and they have to charge us for the bread we spoke with the manger and they wouldn't do anything so imagine having a birthday party and food is less then what you've ordered I wouldn't recommend this place there customer service is ZERO they just take your money and send you part of your order knowing that you can't do anything, which you have to be in the merry this reduilous, because they know you have to wait another 90 minutes and pay again more money because you have party ,they want to take advantage of the situation I wouldn't recommend this place nor food to...

The food is good, I have eaten at this establishment before so when I had an opportunity to order it for a get together I did. I got a 30piece meal with 4 sides and an extra 10 piece meal in case the meat wasn’t enough. I ordered it online the night before. Got a call the day of that they had just received the order and my meal was going to be late. Then they used POSTMATES to deliver and did not mention this on their website. So the food was late, it was cold and the sides were the serving size for about two people. In addition the driver of the delivery person honked and they waited as if it was going to be too much trouble to actually deliver the food. Overall not a good experience with this service, probably the first and last time I will use it again. I will also rethink going to this establishment again.

We were excited to try Pollo Campero, thinking it was Guatemala style inspired, but we were VERY DISAPPOINTED! First the rice is from a box and it tastes like the rice served in other chain restaurants. There were no salsas or sauce offered to go with the chicken. The bottled chile at the tables has nothing to do with Guatemala which is why we came to try this food. The fries were hard. The grilled chicken and fried were ok. The fried banana was sweet. The cashier was impatient when we asked about the different chicken. We don’t plan to go back.
