Tacos El Gavilan — Restaurant in South Gate

Pros: Food is fresh. Large clean locations with large screen TVs. Fair price. Good amount of food. Many side orders to pick from for free. Menu options are good and include the "super menu" which is delicious with fresh guacamole and cream.

Cons: They waste a lot of plastic and packing. It's so sad to see this. I wanted to eat here and I ask the guy to just give me the plate with my food and nothing else. By policy of the management they wrap the food, cover with plastic and place in a large supermarket size plastic bag, even if you buy one taco 🌮...

I hope they change this policy and also ask people how they want their food.

I mentioned the menu is good but El Gavilan has so much potential to offer food options to compete with Chipotle and other big chains. I repeat, their food is good and to me seems always fresh.

I really wish they sell more options that are not meats. I say that because they do have cheese only options for tacos, etc. Non meat options are so popular now at so many restaurants. Many people are looking for non meat options. That's why Panda Express has vegan Orange chicken and Chipotle has Sofritas and chicken Al pastor.

My recommendation is to do a very good study of what options they can bring to their restaurants, at least to a few to start.

This not only increase the number of new costumers that would just never come to eat meat and give choices that are more healthy to everyone.

I know that this may not work and money might be wasted trying to add non meat protein items to the menu. But it might really work and add better choices and more costumers.

Recommendations: I have been replacing meat with tofu. You can make tofu so delicious like the Sofritas at chipotle. It only takes practicing to make it taste good. Different tofu types can be marinated to taste like Al pastor or adobada.

Another simple choice is to add Al pastor chicken to the menu.

Hands down one of the cleanest and most authentic Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to! The guacamole is fresh and flavorful, and the tacos are absolutely unbeatable—truly the best around.

The drive-thru is fast, efficient, and super organized, which makes the whole experience even better. I also love their horchata—perfectly sweet and refreshing. Whether it’s the tortas, burritos, or anything else on the menu, you honestly can’t go wrong.

One detail I really appreciate is how neatly they package the onions and salsa—each one individually packed in a clever, thoughtful way. You can tell they care about quality and presentation.

I was very unimpressed with this tacos gavilan I went to the one on Central and Washington boulevard for 6 months every other day and the orders came out perfect and I'm a picky person and I got what I wanted and I always had to pleasurable order it was either a chicken burrito or carne asada burrito with rice and lettuce and tomato this particular taco's gavilion in Southgate does not like special orders does not provide lettuce and and tried to tell me that they wouldn't give me tomatoes until I complained I went there twice and I was disappointed also with the race it seemed like it was very gummy and had been sitting for quite some time and I got there at 12:00 in the afternoon I would not...
