Tried Camdens for the first time at the suggestion of someone my wife knows. We started with the mussel special that was the highlight of our experience. Very flavorful and plentiful. We then had the baked stuffed chicken and thanksgiving day sandwich for dinner and a glass of house wine.
The dinners were decent. The chicken was a little dry but tasty. My Turkey sandwich was very good. I opted for the mashed potatoe side with gravy, also very good. Prices were reasonable.
Service was not the greatest. We had a new waiter and he tried hard but struggled to remember bringing water and a soda. After the third time reminding him (and with my aggravation starting to show) he finally remembered. He seemed like a nice enough kid and I still tipped well.
Overall,I would say it’s a decent backup place. Was easy to get into at 6:45 and even with the slow service was better than waiting an hour at a popular place up the street. The one thing I noticed, and it took my wife and I a bit to put our finger on it, is the mood seemed a bit heavy. No one seemed to enjoy what they were doing, just going through the motions. Been here several times, not quite a regular but I do want to start going more often.
Awesome for breakfast and lunch: dinner is a good value but Service can be somewhat inconsistent from time to time.
Pretty good family restaurant, comfortable atmosphere for seniors, all around comfortable establishment with a fairly basic menu.
Sometimes it seems like there is a bit of a communication breakdown with the staff. Some of the staff seem a bit nervous at times, but I get the impression that the young folks who work here seem to try their best, but could use a touch of mentoring to make the experience more friendly...
