Artemis Mediterranean Grill — Restaurant in South Lake Tahoe

We decide to try Mediterranean tonight, and Artemis was right up the street from our house. At purchase, I had to ask to have them open my bottle of beer, and it was down hill from there. We waited for over 30 minutes. None of the waitresses ( 2), or the male servers ( also 2) ever stop to check on us. The smaller of the two waitresses did come to the table next to us, 6 times , and stood a while each time speaking to her friends. She never made contact with us, even though she was the one that took our order!

Eventually we waived down a male server. By then all three groups that came in after us had been served. It seems that our food was sitting on the “ to go” table. When the waitress that took our order figured it out , she brought three to go boxes over and dumped them on our table with no apology. I asked her how long they had been sitting there, and she said “ just a few minutes “ and walked away. I saw them placed on the table over 15 minutes prior , but her friends were more interesting. I had to waive down the male server to get silverware , since among her other faults , she didn’t bring us napkins or silverware.

The gyro chicken was dry and tasteless, and the falafel balls were squished flat so as to provide only half a normal portion. Two beers, a gyro, a falafel and and fried pickles was over $67?

Maybe they didnt realize that we live here, or maybe service isn’t their for gay, but it did appear that were were particularly snubbed. In any event, we won’t be back , and I suspect everyone that we speak to...

We eat at and get food to go from both Artemis locations quite a bit. My wife and I typically have a splurge night and spend $75-90 on a ton of food for just the two of us. We love it and love the leftovers the next day.

Last time we went to pick up food from Artemis Lakefront, it was no exception. The food was great. We got the calamari, fish and chips, spanakopita, shrimp, falafel, fries, and wings.

Everything was ready when I got there and hot when we made it home.

We went to down on the food that night and were excited for leftovers the next day.

When my wife heated up the leftovers for lunch, she was really confused when there was something hard in the spanakopita. She had bit down hard, her tooth was hurting and her gums were bleeding.

She was startled to see that a small nail was baked into the Spanakopita (and equally startled to see that she'd left teeth marks in the nail).

I called yesterday to let them know, the manager was out sick and the woman who answered the phone took down my name and number. I never got a call back and that was a little disappointing.

The food is great from Artemis. We love it. Service is always great too. Finding a nail baked into your food and not getting a call back isn't great.

This probably won't turn us off Artemis long term, but we'll probably go somewhere else for our splurge meals...

My wife and I went on a Sunday for an early dinner at 4pm. We were sat in thr back corner of the outside patio, which is fine, but the waitress completely forgot we were there multiple times. She came to order our drinks and we told her we needed a couple more minutes to order food. She came back 20/30 minutes later and took our menus without even asking us if we were ready to order. We waited a few minutes and asked for our menus back, no apologies were given. She came back 10 minutes later and took our order. She did not come back one single time to check on us until our food came, more than 45 minutes later. The food was outstanding which is the ONLY reason for 3 stars here.

I have been wanting to check this spot out for years but have always been hesitant. The restaurant needs to retrain its servers after their long hiatus. I also will give benefit of the doubt that it might take some time to get back in thr swing of life from covid19. The waitress was very nice and friendly but just kept forgetting we were even there, and even took our menus without letting us order food. Yes these are all accidents and correctable so we will forsyre be back to this spot as we love the food but hopefully will be a bit better. Great potential to grow. Will be back in a...
