This location lacks integrity in their business practices & doesn't honor specials clearly posted on their own website.
I called to place an order for several large pizzas during the 3-5 happy hour earlier tonight.
The website clearly states that there is a special, today Dec 27th, for $4 off each pizza before 5pm & I asked to confirm the special before placing my order & the fella taking my order was unfamiliar with it & placed me on hold to confirm.
He picks back up to say the special is only for alcohol. I politely point out that the special is listed on the website. He says that his manager says they are not honoring it ... that the holidays do not qualify for any specials ... I politely mention that on the website it specifically says that it's for today, December 27th. They've actually got a few specials listed under the Specials tab. He states the manager told him not to honor the special.
I asked to speak to the manager, just to confirm because the special is very clearly listed on the website, specifically for today (see screenshot) & I casually read the exact wording on the website after asking him politely to simply look at their website to verify.
He said yeah so the manager told him not to honor the special & we won't honor it. And hung up on me.
I still would've ordered the pizza without the discount.
The fact this manager & the employees are not only unfamiliar with their specials but also unwilling to honor the specials once made aware of them is unbelievable.
All they had to do was look on their own website to confirm. I'm posting the image from the website.
I have a 4 year old & 8 year old & 10 other people to feed. We come here every year for a week & order about $150 in pizza at least once while we are in Tahoe.
This place was recommended by our friends who live locally, they are regulars & I will be sure to share my experience with them as as eat dinner with them tonight.
It's one thing to be ignorant of your own company's specials, another to not honor them & even worse to hang up on a customer who would've bought the pizza without the special.
This will be the story we tell every time we visit Tahoe after Christmas. This business has always been great & this was a bummer - especially during the holidays with hungry children & a large group of family & local...

I want to say that Peppe was spot on. He really seems to love his job, and was super excited to serve us and tell us a little about Blue Dog Pizza (was in Lake Tahoe for business, so this was my first time here). The only complaint I have would be the amount of toppings (had all the meat toppings, along with bell pepper/onions/tomatoes) that was placed on the pizza. In my opinion there was not enough to justify the cost of the pizza (I got a large that was $30.00). There was some of each topping, but not a lot. I took it back to my hotel that had a kitchen in it and added more sausage, ham, onions, etc. It was good, don't get me wrong, but for $30 I want the pizza loaded down with toppings. The only other part I didn't really care for was how the bell pepper and onion are cut. They are not diced, but rather cut in long pieces. Just a preference, as I'm sure a lot of people like theirs cut in long pieces. Would I purchase this again if I were to go back, probably not due to the lower amount of toppings on it. We ordered delivery last night 5/12/2022, spending a total of $53.00, and my son was kind enough to give the driver a $9 tip. It was at 6 p.m. and a beautiful evening, in other words very clear visibility; I specified in the notes to "leave at front door" and the driver got that part right, however it was the wrong apartment #. The neighbor was home & brought the order over-the correct address was on the receipt. This meant we had to answer the door, and we have Covid so it was a bad situation to say the LEAST.
