I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at Thai on Ski Run at Lake Tahoe, and I am deeply disappointed with the quality of their food and the overall service. I cannot recommend this establishment based on the multiple issues I encountered during my visit.
Firstly, the Thai food I ordered was subpar at best. The yellow and mango curry lacked the authentic flavors and depth that I have come to expect from a Thai restaurant. The poorly prepared pad Thai was bland and lacked the balance of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors that make this dish so beloved. It was clear that little care was put into the preparation and presentation of these dishes.
While the papaya salad was the only saving grace of my meal, it was not enough to redeem the overall disappointing experience. The addition of chicken to vegetarian options caused quite a fuss, which was not handled properly by the staff. Instead of offering a sincere apology or providing a suitable solution, they showed no remorse for their mistake. This lack of accountability and customer service is unacceptable.
Additionally, the service itself was lackluster. The waitstaff seemed disinterested and inattentive, leaving customers waiting for extended periods without any attention. It is clear that they have not been properly trained in providing a satisfactory dining experience.
In conclusion, my dining experience at Thai on Ski Run was far from satisfactory. The poor quality and taste of the food, combined with the lack of professionalism and accountability from the staff, leaves no room for me to recommend this place. I would advise looking elsewhere for authentic and well-prepared Thai cuisine in the...
Read moreI have never experienced such poor service. Called to see it they were busy, they were not, only three tables occupied. At least 5 staff walked by my wife and I as we stood waiting inside the door. No eye contact, no acknowledgement. Eventually we were shown a seat. No dishes, no napkins, no silverware, no menus provided. Sat there 15 minutes. Noticed Asian Americans around us appropriately greeted, table set and menus provided even though they arrived 10-15 minutes after us. A Thai man came by the table and asked if everything was ok. I answered “no” and stated we were not acknowledged and no menus given despite 15 going on 20 minutes. He apologized and brought us menus. The female waitress eventually came by and took our order. We waited 20-25 minutes and noted food was served to Asian American tables that arrived after us and some were even actually finished with their meals. Finally the waitress wearing a baseball cap returned and told us she had forgotten to turn in our order and couldn’t even find it in her order book. We got up and left. I tried to call once got to my car and we were told that neither the owner, nor chef spoke to customers. There was no way to complain to management about our experience. 45-50 minutes total being ignored. Frustrated, used this review forum. While the food may be good, the service is terrible. We thought we would try this place instead of our usual My Thai. We will never go back? Very poor waitress and management versus...
Read moreWent there last night, not really expecting anything especially coming from socal with tons of good Asian food and they also had a bit of Thai with some other cousines going on. But I was pleasantly surprised by their food and service. They could do a better job of letting the customers know that this is the restaurant though. I had to ask a customer coming out of the restaurant to confirm that this is the right place.
Wonton soup: would recommend. Pretty rich wontons with flavorful soup. It wasn't too blend or too salty.
Crispy roll: could be better. I felt like it was a bit too hard having the coating be so thick.
Siumai: I can't say how true the siumai here is compared to the good ones (because I don't have too many experience with it), but I enjoyed it. It was packed and flavorful.
Tom Kha: would recommend, especially on a hot day. The flavor is pretty refreshing and heart-warming. Lemon in it also was good. Really nice for a cold winter day and probably favorite out of the dishes we ordered.
Noodle soup: a bit blend, but still good. It was our least favorite entree but the other two were superb.
Service: the servers were extremely nice and friendly, came to check in on us every 5-10 min and one of them spoke some Korean to us which we really appreciated.
Atmosphere: when I went, it was near valentine's, so they had a bit of Valentine decorations with the servers wearing a headband. Thought it was cute. They had red heart shaped container with candies...
