Flavas Jamaican Grill is a true hidden gem in South San Francisco, conveniently located near the airport and hotels. While the restaurant is small, and parking can be a challenge (you might need to park down the street), the food more than makes up for any inconvenience. I highly recommend ordering ahead, especially during the evening, as the space can get crowded with customers and delivery drivers. If you're dining with a family, the limited seating may not be the most comfortable, but the incredible food makes it worth it.
The jerk salmon is the star of the menu perfectly cooked with a smoky, tangy heat that melts in your mouth. It's hands down the best salmon I’ve ever had, with flavors that are bold yet perfectly balanced. The jerk chicken is also a standout, and the sides like dirty rice and plantains are the perfect complements, creating a delicious harmony of flavors.
If you’re feeling adventurous, don’t miss out on the oxtail or the wings both are packed with rich, authentic flavor. Pair your meal with one of their imported Jamaican sodas or a ginger beer for a truly immersive experience.
As someone from Fresno, where Jamaican food is nonexistent, Flavas has been my first and only Jamaican food experience and it has set the bar incredibly high. The flavors are vibrant and comforting, giving you a true taste of Jamaica. Other patrons rave about their curry goat and daily specials, which I plan to try on my next visit.
Whether you’re a local or passing through South San Francisco, Flavas Jamaican Grill is a must visit for anyone craving bold, authentic flavors. Just be sure to plan ahead for seating and parking, and prepare to be wowed by the food!

Read more2nd time I've been in about 3 months (this year). When I went in April I got codfish fritters and they were good. Plenty of fish. The same lady (light skinned woman) was rude. Today I decided to come bec I had a taste for Jamaican style food, but was hesitant bec the woman was rude the last time. Today I only had fritters, plantain and greens. The fritters had a strange taste and hardly any fish AND they were much smaller (probably 1/2 the size). There was another woman working there today (she was much more pleasant and professional) along with the light skinned woman. I told both of them I didn't like the fritters and that they barely had any fish in them. I told the light skinned woman I was only paying for the vegetables (they weren't that good either). I have had much better Jamaican food, and this place does NOT represent Jamaica well AT ALL! The light skinned one - again - was rude, argumentative and unprofessional. Even told me if I didnt have the money to pay, I should have said that. Trust and believe I have plenty of money on me. That wasn't the issue. It was only $20, but I paid $8. I'm not paying for food that was not good. The greens were canned....BAD BAD BAD....overly soggy plantains....SHAME ON YOU!!! IF YOU HAVE JAMAICAN IN YOUR RESTAURANT NAME YOU MUST UPHOLD TO STANDARD AND QUALITY!! IVE HAD THE BEST OF THE BEST AND THIS PLACE IS NOT ONE OF THEM! BEST BELIEVE I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE. 4.3 STARS....I SEE WHY! I ONLY GAVE 2 STARS FOR THE SERVICE BEC THE OTHER LADY WAS NICE!
Food isn’t good & customer service is even worse. Anyone who says different is honestly lying. First, I walk through the door and I am not greeted. There are about 4 people waiting for their food & the 2 people working the counter look confused and don’t know where anyone’s food is. I’m standing right in front of the counter for 7 minutes while the staff stare into space and ignore me until I ask them if I can place an order. They both ignore me and then finally ask me what I wanted to order. I would have just left after waiting for 2 minutes and hadn’t been helped but I heard the food was good so I waited. I begin to order and the older guy with glasses is basically rushing me while I’m ordering, kept asking me if I was done & being extremely rude. As Im waiting for my food, I’m just sitting there. I’m the only customer inside and I see some food come out the kitchen. I wait for 5 minutes while my food is sitting on the counter and the lady with the thick Jamaican accent at the counter finally asks me for my name and I tell her and she says “oh your food is ready.” I grab my food and go. The food wasn’t good. The only thing that was good were the jerk wings. They didn’t taste like jerk but they were seasoned and cooked well. I also ordered the oxtail plate that comes with rice and peas and cabbage. I also ordered Mac and cheese and a chicken patty. The food just wasn’t good. Mac & cheese was mushy and nasty. Oxtails had no meat, just fat and I only got 3 for about $16-19. Everything else was flavorless. I was very disappointed that I paid $40 for bad service and food....
