Here is our experience with this restaurant on Valentine’s Day (absolutely ruined).
Firstly, after taking our order, we were served bread and brussel sprouts to start. Assuming these were free (as bread usually is) and the brussel sprouts (which we didn’t order) came shortly after it without the waiter saying anything, we dug in as we waited for our main dishes.
We ended up waiting for our order (only two entrees of mid spaghetti and penne) for almost an hour when the couple next to us were served before us even though they were seated after us. The couple beside us was also given bread and brussel sprouts, adding to our assumption that the restaurant gives it for free as customers wait. Not to mention the fact that we didn’t get a single water refill that whole hour and had to get up to find a waiter to ask for more water.
We eventually got our food, finished it, and ordered dessert. We ordered a molten lava cake, which tasted like the microwave cakes from the grocery store and had absolutely ZERO chocolate lava in it, enforcing our assumption that it was grocery store bought. The entire thing was simply cake.
After we finished, we get our receipt and notice we’ve been charged for the brussel sprouts. Confused, we bring this up with the waiter and he explains that our brussel sprouts were actually meant to be the couple’s next to us, and because of the mistake, they comped that couple’s brussel sprouts. When asked if they could take the charge off of our bill, they replied with “no, you already ate it.”
In conclusion, don’t come here if you want to wait for an hour+, get the wrong food and be forced to pay for it, have to actively search for a waiter to get water, and eat microwaved store...
Read moreI wish I would've tried this restaurant sooner but it was a bank and felt a little odd. My loss. I'm glad we dined here this evening. The service impeccable, the food full of flavor. We had the spaghetti and meatballs, the linguine frutti de mare, arugula salad and creme brulee for dinner. We will be returning soon.
Just returned with friends on 10/15. We had reservations and thank goodness we did. It wasn’t super busy the first time we went but it was very busy tonight. They had a large birthday party but we didn’t notice a change in service or receiving our food and drinks as the servers were friendly and prompt. The food was delicious again. My husband had the steak, our friend had the special, pork chops. Myself and our friends fiancé had the linguine tutti de mare which was just as delicious as my first visit. We ordered the prosciutto arugula salad pizza for an appetizer. Maurice recommended two great bottles of red wine for us. I am selective about where I will spend money on wine and when I ask for a recommendation. If I’m unsure of the restaurant I’ll usually order by the glass or choose my own wine. I ask for recommendations only if I feel confident in the server, the restaurant, the food, etc. because I won't ask for a recommendation and then not order it regardless of the price. We spent over $500 for the four of us including two bottles of wine at $95+. No regrets and it was delightful. That's a lot of money for us to l spend on a dinner out just because and we'd do it again at Andiamo because there...
Read moreOur flight was delayed for another day so we got a hotel room and ventured out to this place, which was close by, because it was our last chance to get some Italian food in S.F. This ended up being the best meal we had on our entire trip to SF and wine country. The restaurant was decorated nicely and had tall ceilings and murals. This was white tablecloth fine dining. The waitstaff consisted of young guys who were thoroughly attentive to all aspects of service. Our water glasses were promptly refilled, table settings were kept orderly, wine presentation and pouring was performed correctly and our food came out hot and at the same time, which seems to be extreme rare these day no matter where you eat. We started with a Caesar salad with anchovies, then for entrees we ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and Chicken Piccata. Both were magnificent and the Bolognese was superbly rich. We also ordered an Italian red wine from there expansive wine list. Dessert consisted of a solid, delectable Tiramisu. I’m not sure how much of the waitstaff was Italian, but I can tell you these guys were all on point at every level and the chef in the kitchen window dishing out the food appeared to be 100% full-blooded Italian. I don’t think he was using a cookbook. If I ever get the chance, I plan on coming back here again one day. I hope some of you support this restaurant based on my review, because...
