This place was recommended to me by a coworker. Me and my cocowker had breakfast nearby and I was told I have to try this place out since they stand out compared to other bakeries. I instantly knew I had to try this place out even though I was full. Upon arrival, the place was a bit crowded but that did not give me a doubt since I am a very patient person. You first grab a tray along with a pair of tongs, then you choose what you would like. The baked goods area is a bit of narrow, but just enough to get by. They have a variety of things to choose from that will definitely fit your test. They offer many different Spanish goods, doughnuts, breads, pastries, cookies, tres leche, flan and many more things to choose from. I was lucky, because when it was my turn a lot of things had just come out of their oven. Everything here is made fresh daily which is always a plus because it is quality over quantity. The staffs here are welcoming, well trained and understanding which made my visit a satisfying and issue free one. I highly recommend this place to anyone needing some goods for breakfast, if you are willing to try something new, for all the people that have a sweet tooth or if you just so happen to be in the area. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they...
Read moreOpen daily from 6am, except Sundays when the Bakers get an extra hour of sleep, Las Hijas Del Gallo looks exactly like the Panaderias in Playa del Carmen and the ouskirts of CDMX with products as good or better than both.
Located in South San Francisco with plenty of parking, the smell of Cinnamon and Yeast tantalizing from several yards away, it is once inside that guests discover brick walls and floors plus a cash-only policy for orders under $10.
Frequently with a line, sheet pans on racks lined up without labels in order of what last came out the oven, Conchas and Ojo are wispy beneath crunchy Sugar topping while the Pineapple Turnover was golden on the outside with a still-warm Fruit center.
Also offering freshly fried Churros at the counter, crispy and oilless with a good bit of Cinnamon, Cortadillo comes lightly frosted but plenty moist – though obviously not so much as creamy Tres Leches stored cold.
Smart to pick up an Empanada, a bit of guess-work yielding Custard, Guava Cheese shouldn’t be missed and the Besos with Dulce de Leche rolled in extra Powdered Sugar is also...
Read moreWalking into Las Hijas del Gallo is like taking a trip to a timeless Panaderìa Mexicana- the cafeteria trays and tongs, the Conchas (oh, the Conchas!), the smiles and warmth…Rack after rack of freshly-baked breads and pastries coming from the ovens a mere 10ft away. The air is filled with generosity, and sugar. It is impossible to settle on just one or two. Having walked away with a box of eight myself (for $11!) I can assure you of the authentic quality and deliciousness. The Conchas are just perfectly sweet, the churros are thin and crisp. And the Telera is the softest I’ve ever had; with the perfect salinity. My kudos to the owners, the bakers, and all the patrons that made this such a lovely and authentic experience. If you’re in the area: do go. You will not regret it. (And don’t overlook the Chocolate Chip Cookies - a definitive...
