Bad food. I regularly visit Lima Peru. This is a very mediocre version. Overcooked. Bland. Will not come back.
The problem is not a toned down aji, I didn't have any aji. It just was NOT GOOD. Everything we ordered was barely edible. Overcooked. Even my chilcano pisco drink was mediocre.
The atmosphere is not a "nice place" .. but felt more like a cafeteria. But the bill for 2 people was over $100. Would be fine if the food was good but I would have literally rather had taco bell... Which is close by. Go there instead.
The server was initially very nice but never came back to check on us so I could say that the fried egg was hard fried... You want a runny yolk to run over the lomo saltado.
In the appetizer dish, hard boiled eggs over boiled. The sauce was bland and not well done. I have had this dish many times, it's normally tasty. Here it was not. We didn't even finish half of it. This place just doesn't know...
Read moreI stopped by Rockoto Peruvian Cuisine in South San Francisco on a quiet afternoon and left incredibly impressed. I tried the Ají de Gallina empanadas, and they were nothing short of amazing. The empanada crust was perfectly crisp and golden, and the filling was rich, creamy, and bursting with traditional Peruvian flavor. You could taste the layers of seasoning and care that went into each bite—it was honestly one of the best empanadas I’ve ever had.
On top of the fantastic food, the customer service was outstanding. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They took the time to chat with me and made the entire experience feel personal and authentic.
Rockoto is a hidden gem, and I’m so glad I stopped in. If you’re in the area—or even if you’re not—it’s absolutely worth the trip. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more...
Read moreThe interior is unassuming, but the food and service are incredible!
All of our food was beautifully presented and delicious. I ordered the Mixta salad and could taste the quality of the ingredients. The salmon was perfectly flaky, and the salad tasted fresh. The dressing was well balanced - enough to impart flavor but not overwhelming.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She even brought over free drink samples for new mixed drinks that aren’t on the menu yet. We felt really well cared for when we were at Rockoto!
They were also easily able to accommodate our party of 7. My only critique is that it was sometimes hard to hear other people at our table because the acoustics of the restaurant made all of the sounds echo-y. But it wasn’t a big deal and we all had a good time.
Thanks for hosting us for a...
