On my list visit to this Whataburger my review said, "I have all but given up on fast food in the Memphis area. This Whataburger location may have just won me back over though!" I went on to say "[the employee there] provided what is easily the best customer service I've ever experienced in the Memphis area. The experience was refreshing and friendly like nothing I've experienced before." I ABSOLUTELY HATE that I have to overwrite my previous review with this one.
I arrived at Whataburger and placed my order for lunch today. When I pulled up to the window I found that there were two other cars backed up that had paid and been asked to move foward, but hadn't received their order. The girl at the window processed my payment and asked me to move up also. It was 14 minutes waiting for my order from the time I paid for it. I HATE it when a fast food chain bypasses the service timers by making us pull up past the window rather than let the timer reflect the actual customer experience. As far as I'm concerned, that's the store management lieing to the owners and corporate management.
This used to be the best customer service I've ever seen in Memphis fast food. Now, you've settled down into the cespool that we expect in our area. Please take this review as a caution flag, correct the management descisions or positions that led to it, and go back to the place I last visited. Except, I turned up 15 minutes after the online order and stood in line for 5 minutes behind two other dudes at the online order counter before seeing an employee. The first one I saw was returning to the kitchen from delivering a meal to a customer. "Excuse me!" I flagged her over, "Can you check and see where an order for Kevin might be and when it is ready? I ordered 20 minutes ago..." She looked at me with pity and smiled disdainfully (Yeah. That's a thing.) "Yeah, so.....I'm not on the clock right now so I can't do anything."
Seriously? Is THAT even a thing? You just tell customers that you aren't clocked in so.....tough luck! "Uh, can you get me someone who IS clocked in so I can ask them?" I responded, incredulous and more than a bit confused. Apparently that was too much of an ask. After all, I couldn't even claim to be a paying customer.
45 minutes after I ordered, after a drive thru customer refused to accept my order because, well, .....er, .....it wasn't what THEY ordered, I finally got my soggy fries and cold 'melt'. Thanks, Whataburger, for the special offer to help me remember why, even though I like the menu, THIS is why I never come to Whataburger in the Memphis area. Hopefully it was worthwhile...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to go frequently to this whataburger but no longer will I be visiting. I went there about a month ago to get something quick late at night. I got something that reached the total of about 12 dollars and got to the window. The lady at the register scanned my phone, gave me my food, and told me āhave a nice nightā , walked away from the window , never returned and did not take my money which I did not realize until I got home. I felt super bad but I didnāt feel like going back over a mistake an EMPLOYEE made. I went back there multiple times after this incident and honestly forgot about it. I came there tonight to get food and was greeted by the lady (who took my order the time of the incident) and a blonde manager who brought up that incident and said my card ādeclinedā last time. I told her that she NEVER was handed a card nor asked for any type of payment that night. Then the other lady told me āAn honest person wouldāve still paidā but yet you lied to your manager and told her my card declined.. how funny. How is that my fault? I felt extremely uncomfortable and disturbed by the way I was treated tonight over a mistake of an EMPLOYEE. I usually donāt write reviews but I truly feel something should be done about this.
