I have had 100's of kinds of grinders at 100's of different grinder places. Far to many to remember them all, but there are 3 or 4 that I will NEVER forget, even when I'm old and gross. Mikee's place is one of those and is literally one of the top 3 grinders that ever entered my face-hole. This is a top to bottom thing here right? I mean a grinder has to hit on ALL cylinders with each of the multiple components involved. For me, it starts with the bread. It's a grinder, the bread is the vehicle and can make or break a great grinder on the first bite. The bread here is as perfect as it gets; light and fluffy but still dense enough to handle the contents. And it ALWAYS tastes like it was made that day. Really amazing. The meats here are top of the line, and it doesn't take long to taste the difference. If you've ever eaten at a Subway, you will taste it even sooner. Full disclosure here, I don't really dive super deep into the menu. I have 3 or 5 standbys with my favorite being a turkey, bacon, American cheese, lettuce and mayo...that's it, simple and life changing. Size wise I always go with a giant, because that means I'll have lunch tomorrow! I've never ordered any of the "hot" options, but from what I've heard...
Read moreMy husband went here today for a grinder to take on a hike and picnic at Kent falls. We saw the promo when we went to the riverview cinema and said wow we need to go there.Well just like adds for McDonald's and burger king, they DO NOT LOOK LIKE THAT IN PERSON. My husband ordered a half tuna grinder thinking it would be plenty for us from seeing the advertisement but no. When we got to our picnic, it had a thin smear of tuna, 2 onion ringslets and 2 hot pepper slices. Thank God I made some salad but after a hike it was hardly what expected. AND IT WAS 11.50!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? 11.50 FOR A HALF GRINDER WITH NOTHING ON IT. PLEASE PLEASE SUBWAY COME BACK TO SOUTHBURY. We know you suffered during the storm but at least with Subway they are consistent with how they make subs. Owner responded to come back so they can make it right but shouldn't all subs be consistently good and made the same with good quality? Why would we come back and say "hey we got a crappy sub last time can you make it good this time" Thanks for offer but no thanks. We are only 5 minutes from you but would rather drive to Subway, Nardellis or even a trip to Shelton Super Sandwich. The owner should take a drive there to see a really...
Read moreFor those a bit apprehensive so stop by here due to other reviews let me put you all at ease. This is THE place for a true NY style hero sandwich! My first time walking into the joint and you can tell right off the bat that they make some solid hoagies here. I ordered there classic Original Italian sub waited for just a few minutes while everything got sliced fresh and the sandwich was made to order. This place def gives me a city vibe when I'm inside. The owner is no nonsense and a bit serious but if u go to any deli in the city you get the same kind of approach so I wasn't off put one bit. Its a small spot w/some seating outside so it's perfect on a nice sunny day but let's talk about this sandwich though. Hands down one of my top 3 all-time favorites and one of the very best italian combos I have ever had....period. Only Faicco's rivals it and thats me saying something. This Italian sub has incredible balance and their prosciuttini is out of this world salty n peppery. Biting into it its like a work of art everything layered right 'll the toppings working in unison with the cold cuts it's truly a thing if beauty. Dnt let negative reviewers deter you from this life changing experience. You...
