I have no clue how this Waffle House ever received a four star rating , the only reason there is any stars whatsoever is I had to put one to put this review up!!!! I am a fifty year old man that used to be a professional truck driver and have always liked Waffle House , almost always every Waffle House I have ever been in is usually efficient and serves a good breakfast, I’ve ate at them often enough I never even bother to look at the menu, we go camping quite a bit and the tradition is to leave after camping and head to the nearest Waffle House to sit down and have a good hot breakfast, upon arriving at this restaurant we walked in and sat and waited for a booth because it’s my preference, figured it wouldn’t take long to be seated because the place wasn’t busy, especially for a Waffle House, we waited fairly patiently for quite a while for a table where the gentlemen that were previously seated to receive a check and being able to pay, they were finished with their meal by the time we had arrived, after they settled up we waited another twenty minutes in an attempt to get somebody to bus the table, she started stopped and started up again, I finished clearing the table myself in an effort to finally be seated, another 10 minutes later a waitress came and apologized and wiped the table down and left again, she disappeared again for quite a while and then returned and handed us a menu, never offered coffee or a drink of water, and disappeared again, she did not return, people behind me heard my annoyance and began to tell me of their dining experience, one lady at a party of four had never received her meal when the rest of her party had already received their meals and were done eating and had already been waiting around for some time, the waitress returned to their table and gave someone a water at their table, the lady asked to have the item removed from the bill because she didn’t want to make her friends wait any longer, the lady asked her to wait a few more minutes it was almost ready, the lady then just asked to make it to go then because they had a long trip and had already been waiting along time, people waited another five minutes then got their order, asked the waitress if I could have a cup of coffee and some waters for everyone, she asked me to wait, I asked a gentleman if I could have a glass of water that I had assumed was the manager because I was really thirsty, he then explained he didn’t work there, and that he was the coke rep, but he would help me out and went and got me a glass of water, waitress reappeared five minutes or so later, she did not return to our table but was fairly close by fiddling with silverware, I spoke up and said I’d like a cup of coffee and we were ready to order, I was asked to wait a few minutes again, I have never seen such service at a Waffle House or any other restaurant in my life!!!! Extremely annoyed I told my family let’s go, we went a minute or two back in the direction to Macs anytime breakfast and received amazing service and even better food, I honestly do not ever remember having a better breakfast! Do yourself a favor and don’t stop at the Waffle House, I would like to mention I have never posted a review for any restaurant before or much of anything, but here I am writing a book for a review, that’s how awful the experience was!! You have been warned!!!! Stop if your a glutton for...
Read moreSo, begin by saying if you're going to act smug, you probably shouldn't be bad at your job also. We came to this Waffle House at the behest of my youngest daughter. There are 6 of us including my wife, her mother and our three kids. We sat down and had an amazing young girl (who has a birthday upcomming), Gabriela. She was great through the whole process and we appreciated her attention to detail and customer service focus. Once we ordered things started their spiral.
The adults all had hashbrowns in or with their meal, and as is customary with Waffle House tradition, they were all customized differently. My wife also ordered her whites done and the yolks runny on her eggs. Haven eaten our fair share of Waffle House over our lifetime we fully knew what to expect. Upon receipt of the food it seemed our waitress was timid about delivering our food. Once set down it became obviously clear. My wife's eggs were somewhere near over well done and our has browns were just past that. As a crumbly dark brown that almost turned to dust at the mere glancing touch. For humor I lifted mine to see all my "additions" not coocked, piled together, and under not in the hasbrown... brick. Crazy... so we're my wife's. Now that seemed off because three individuals were working the grill.
Now when we obviously sent them back the three feigned offense. Now for the first time in my life I watched three men (who are obviously bad at their job) act better than the people they served. There was a particularly humorous individual who was grilling in the middle, turned around and smirked and made sly remarks. A little heavy set, dirty blonde hair and beard. How do you know this you ask, I'll tell you! Here was on the grill with no hair covers or hat (to further the idea that he is bad at whatever his job is). The second round was better and even had the additions in the hash browns, not below them.... absolutely off putting and disappointing. By the way I did happen to find out before we left that the individual making sly comments was the manager, with his staff, about customers (man... hammering home that super bad at his job)
I say absolutely go and enjoy the company of Gabriela, and her compares as everyone other than the three musketeers were absolutely as nice as they could be. I hope that he learns from lessons like these and develops into a quality manager and people developer... I wont hold my breath, but...
Read moreIt wasn't busy when we got there. However we ended up still waiting well over an hour for our food. We waited patiently as other customer came in and sat down and ordered and received their order while we still had nothing. When my husband and I got our food my daughter was still left without her waffle an additional 20 minutes. However another table that had been there 15 minutes got not one but two waffles. ( I watched as our server actually verbally directed another waitress to take them to that table.) Our food was really nothing out of the norm I asked my hashbrowns be cooked well. They we not. My philly steak on Texas toast was terrible. I assume the sponge that cleans the grill tastes equal to that sandwich. The bread itself was dripping grease, the meat thoroughly cooked to a crisp. I wasn't able to eat it. Oh and may I add that after my hashbrowns came out the second time my daughter still had NO Waffle! So I ate my hashbrowns my husband ate the sandwich....Still no waffle! We got it taken off the check and paid. My daughter and I left hungry and took our business to Biscuit ville. Let me say we love Waffle House in Sanford and Goldsboro and Apex! However this location in Southern Pines will never make another...
