Ahhhh! The Henhouse Bar-B-Q...... To quote my buddy, the Photobomber, "This frikkin' chikkin' is lip likkin' good!" Or, to quote my dear friend Tonya J., "You've been Hen Pecked!". She's right! I really like the fried chicken here. Every time I come here, I exclaim that this is my favorite fried chicken. That is, until the next time I go to Greers Chicken in Bristol. They're both my favorites. I really can't decide which I like better. Tough dilemma, ain't it, having two really great fried chicken restaurants nearby? The fried chicken here has a mildly seasoned coating, and are large pieces, always perfectly cooked to a delicious golden brown, and served with a large number of optional side orders. French fries, onion rings, potato or macaroni salad, and cole slaw are all very good options to go with your chicken, ribs or fried seafood. Oh! Did I forget to mention that Henhouse also offers fish & chips, fried shrimp, and fried clams? All worthy of mention, in case your tastes run to seafood. Sort of "Chicken Of The Sea", I suppose. In addition, Henhouse also offers rotisserie roasted chicken, and barbeque ribs, things that Greers does not offer. I've yet to try those here, at Henhouse. I've heard they're very good. Maybe one of these visits soon. There are several booths in the plain, but clean dining area connected to the room where you walk up to the counter to place your order. They'll bring your food to the table when it's ready. Or you can get yours "to go". I think that's what most of their many customers do. There's often quite a wait, because the take out is so popular. I'll continue my internal debate about which fried chicken place is my favorite, but I think anyone would be well served to try Henhouse for any of their offerings. I don't think there'd be...

This used to be a really great place and food. Ever since the new ownership it has consistently gone down hill. The food isn't as good, the service is meh. I ordered the same thing I've ordered with my family for years. Got the chicken nugget dinner but apparently now it no longer comes with BBQ sauce (which is the main attraction). Want some? That'll be 25 cents PER container which is smaller than a shot glass. Kids ordered a pudding with their meal like they have forever. Oh it doesn't come with that meal and you can't order it separately. Huh? From the kitchen I can hear from the dining room employees dropping f bombs like it's going out of style.

Listen owner, you're going to run this business into the ground if you think chiseling your customers is good business. It feels adversarial to go here now and I won't be going any longer nor pass on good word of mouth. You just lost 4 repeat customers as well as potential future ones. Plenty of other places to give my money to.

How's that 25 cents working...

I use to love this place. The ribs are definitely my favorite perfectly cooked the chef Clay is a great cook. The girl that use to run the front counter was an extremely friendly person an always treated with respect. The salads definitely went down in taste, I got the potato salad and it tasted like a ball of potato with a dallop of mayonnaise an no seasoning I’m not sure if it was just a bad day or they changed the receipe but definitely not the same since the girl at the front left. I came there an definitely didn’t feel like a family restaurant when the Chinese man at the front talk to me like I was just a dollar in the register than a part of the family ordering weekly food. Not Criticizing the food but definitely miss the old owner in the original people...

Drove 30 mins to try this place. Fried chicken is one of my favorite things to eat. Cooked to order, so call ahead or be prepared to wait. Had a steady flow of ppl in and out. As soon as I walked in I smelled a little stench of bad meat. Received my food, and chicken tasted how it smelled. It wasn't fresh, going bad. If you know that smell of bad chicken, then u know u definitely don't want to eat it. I was mad, I wanted to eat it so bad. Crunch was on point. Seasoned well. Cooked well. But chicken was not fresh. Fries were over cooked. Idk, guess I went on a bad day.

First time. Came after reading other reviews. The place is clean and the people are nice but otherwise disappointed. We waited a full half hour for our food to be ready. The Philly cheese steak tasted like frozen steakums on a plain hard roll. Corn bread and coleslaw taste prepackaged. The ribs were gristle-y. The fried chicken was fine but no better than KFC. French fries also tasted like from a frozen package. For a place that boasts “only 5-star bbq in CT” I expected more hand crafted items. Bear’s bbq is leaps and bounds better than this place.
