Was going to copy/paste the same review I posted on their Facebook account, however the review was too long and Google would not allow me to post it. Even just by me saying that you can obviously tell how awful my experience was considering I had so much to say. So I guess I'm really going to have to be brief, I really USED to like this restaurant. After having a very bad day all I wanted to do was go have dinner and a glass of wine. I walked in and sat at the bar. It was a very busy night so my boyfriend drop me off at the door while he found a parking spot. I handed the bartender my expired license by mistake, she gave me an attitude about it so I apologize and handed her my current license as well as my passport. She kept looking at me then looking at all three IDs as if I was not the same person in the picture and all three of my IDs. Then she gave me my glass of wine I ordered. My boyfriend came in, we order dinner, they brought us out our salads, and then we finally received our dinner. This was all over a period of about 45 minutes since I had got the first glass of wine. I ordered a second glass of wine. Then for some made up a reason the bartender decided that she was going to "cut me off ". My boyfriend and I tried to ask her what the reason was but she refused to even talk to us. So we asked to talk to the manager. He came out and was of absolutely zero help. So we asked for the owners names and contact information. He would only give us their names, he refused to give us a way to contact them. Thankfully one of the owners had a Facebook account so I wrote her a message describing what had happened and how it made me feel. She responded just as rudely as her employees. Supposedly the reason the bartender did not want to serve me a second glass of wine was because "my eyes looked glassy"...like excuse me? Maybe I have allergies, maybe I just smoked a joint (since it's legal to smoke pot in Connecticut now...even though I don't smoke pot) or maybe I was crying because I had a bad day. In the message i gave the owner my phone number so she can contact me and talk about the situation in more detail. I am still waiting for her phone call. Maybe she thought her poor excuse of a response to my message was sufficient enough. Ironically I run a business as well, and customer service is everything. I have never handled any situation with any of my customers as rudely and disrespectfully as she did. There is way more to this story but as I stated earlier I guess Google will only let you write a review with a certain number of characters. I left this restaurant feeling offended, judged, sad, irritated, confused, let down, and angry. If anybody is interested in a more in-depth version of this look on their Facebook reviews. I wrote a more detailed review there. Oh and I forgot to mention, that when I wrote in my message to the owner that I was going to post reviews on social media depending on how she handled the situation, she basically threatened to respond by making me look bad. I still have the original conversation between her and I, she probably does too. The difference is, she was not present during this situation and I was...and I was polite and respectful...she wasn't. With that being said, I am anxiously await Ing her response...

At one time, this restaurant was good. Now, not so much. First, the owner "Barry" needs a crash course in customer service AND needs to learn not to treat good, loyal paying customers like idiots. My wife and I had lunch here recently. Wife had no issues with her meal. My meal, a cheeseburger roll up club was delivered to the table stone cold. I flagged down the owner Barry after having a bite from the roll up and not seeing our server. He took the other side of the roll up, gave it to the chef who opened it up and reheated it rolling it back up into a mess on a plate. It was still cool to the touch. Meanwhile, our waiter Jeffrey comes along (15 minutes later) and asks how the meal was. I told him that the roll up was cold. He was very apologetic and asked if he could get me something else (that's good customer service Jeffrey !) I asked for a buffalo chicken roll up. Meanwhile "Barry" has a word with our server Jeffrey in the kitchen and then "Barry" comes to the table asking me what's wrong. I was flabbergasted as he acted like we never spoke. I told "Barry" that "remember we spoke about the cold burger roll up ?" It was like I didn't register. Meanwhile, "Barry put the brakes on giving me a the buffalo chicken roll to make up for the cold (uneaten) roll up burger and my bad experience. Instead 'Barry"stood at the end of the table asking "what do you want me to do ?" at least 5 times in a VERY condescending manner. I finally told him to take the cost of my meal off of the bill, which he reluctantly did. Why is this bad customer treatment "Barry" ?1. Your server Jeffrey was trying to rectify the situation and make me the customer happy. You, "Barry" interfered and put the kibosh on that because he you were too cheap to make the customer a buffalo chicken roll up as an alternative that would have probably cost you $2 and made me (the customer) happy. Your server Jeffrey already was placing my follow up order (to make the customer satisifed) when you put the brakes on it. Very, Very bad customer service and from the owner no less !3. Barry, don't be so self absorbed that you do not remember a conversation with a dissatisfied customer after 5 minutes. Keep in mind, it was 2 PM and there hardly anyone in the restaurant. No excuses here.4. DO NOT EVER repeat yourself or address any customer in a condescending fashion.5. Realize, its not about the money. Its about having a pleasant dining experience and wanting to return. Now that wont happen. To add to that, many who read this review will opt to dine elsewhere (excellent idea) after reading about this lousy experience thinking, "I dont want to go thru that nonsense. I think I'll go elsewhere."My choice is to never return to Anthony Jack's and to let my friends and those on the internet know that the owner "Barry" cares only about money and could care less about good customer service. Go somewhere else to dine where you will be treated well, the way a paying customer expects to be treated. Hey Barry, get a clue. More reviews like this and Anthony Jack's will out of business in no time flat. There are many very good dining options in Southington, CT. This is definitely not...

We have loved this restaurant for years and have visited and gotten takeout countless times. My family was even tipping the staff 40% during the pandemic to help them in what way we could. We also get their catering for most of our family events. Unfortunately, the owner had the wrong customer last night when she called my mother-in-law at her home, accusing her of making their 16 year old hostess cry. My mother-in-law had called the restaurant back after we discovered a meal was missing from our order (which was no big deal, it happens!) only to ask when it would be ready so that we could come back and pick it up. When I arrived to pick up, the woman who greeted me was apologetic and gave me a gift card for the inconvenience and I was also very pleasant with her, as these things happen! About 30 minutes later, to our complete and utter shock, the owner called the house and berated my mother-in-law for making the hostess upset, called her a liar, and told her to never return to the restaurant! We were completely taken by surprise. It didn’t make sense: Why would you give a gift card to someone you’re going to ban from the restaurant? It doesn’t add up at all. When my husband went down to try to speak to them about the misunderstanding, they accused him of going down there to “verbally abuse women” and berated him too (in front of customers) despite him just wanting to clear up the confusion. I am so terribly sickened by their confusion and how they treated a completely innocent person who did not deserve her night to be ruined. My mother-in-law is one of the least confrontational people on this planet and she did not say anything event remotely rude to the hostess. She has never once in her life been disrespectful to restaurant staff. When trying to explain, the owner interrupted her repeatedly and hung up the phone on her. How could the owner of one of the most well known restaurants in town treat her patrons this way? She successfully lost 6 customers who will never return and you can be rest assured we will be informing everyone we know of our horrifying experience.

*Edited to add in response to owner * As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for a decade, both as a waitress and a hostess, I am extremely familiar with what it takes to work front and center in this industry. I would not have been taken aback by the phone call my mother-in-law made, which again leaves me to believe that the owner called the wrong customer back. I will also remind the owner that there was no issue when we called. Just a phone call to find out when we could pick up our order that we paid for. In my decade experience, I would have never expected a manager to deal with those more basic questions. My review was completely honest with no fabrication. I welcome you to do your own research on prior customer disputes at this establishment to form your own...

*EDITED FOR ADDITIONAL REVIEW: Changed rank from 2 stars to 3 since I was able to dine here this past week & try it out. Nice, casual local restaurant with a good menu. I was pleasantly surprised @ the prices especially given the current state of the economy. Very reasonable. I tried their chicken wings which were good. (Tough competition in that area.) I ordered their shrimp cocktail which I would not recommend. Very jelly, rinsed & comparable to those you'd get out of a pre-packaged "Shrimp Ring" @ your local grocers. I ordered their largest Filet (Medium temp) which was also good, slightly overcooked probably because of the sear, but good. Would recommend ordering steak cooked 1 below where you normally would like it cooked. The desserts were great! Highly recommend staying for dessert. Our Server was a delight, She was prompt & polite. A nice local spot if you're looking for some good food Americana. ---------- Based on my experience I'd sadly rate Anthony Jacks a 0, but don't think that would be fair since I wasn't even given a full oppertunity to dine here. Being in town, I looked forward to visiting Anthony Jacks on Sunday 7/25 after hearing many good things. I called 2 hours prior to ask if I needed a reservation & was told by the woman on the phone that it was fairly slow & shouldn't be necessary (even after mentioning that it was a party of 8). Upon walking in I was greeted by a nice young man who said he'd be able to take us but minded if we sat towards the back. I said not a problem. He asked us to wait and went and spoke with an older woman (manager I assume). She came up to us, very snarky and said that she couldn't take us because their "computers were down." I politely questioned what would stop them from taking our party in their already busy but not crowded (maybe 50% capacity with ample empty tables) and again was obnoxiously, sternly told by the same woman "We cannot seat you. Have a good afternoon" & she walked away to seat a party of 2 that walked in after us. We left. Very irritated by this (being in the industry & knowing great customer experiences) I called the restaurant 20 minutes later (while dining next door) asking for a seating and was told "no problem." I asked if they were busy and was told "not too busy if I didn't mind being seated indoors." I then asked the gentleman if they happen to have computer issues & he had no idea what I was speaking about. Moral of the story: If you don't want to seat a party do it in a polite manner; not be rude & embarrassingly condescending to what could have quite possibly been the largest check in your restaurant that night if not the weekend from someone who always tips a minimum of 22%. I'm sure you don't need my business but you should have valued it. I won't return.

Anthony Jack's Wood Fired Grill in Southington, CT, offers a tantalizing experience for diners seeking bold flavors and attentive service. The restaurant boasts a welcoming ambiance, with the tantalizing aroma of wood-fired cooking filling the air. The highlight of the dining experience at Anthony Jack's is undoubtedly the exceptional flavor of their dishes. Each bite is a testament to the skillful preparation and high-quality ingredients used in every dish. The menu is a celebration of bold, robust flavors that leave a lasting impression. While the flavor of the steak was undeniably delicious, it arrived slightly overcooked, closer to medium rather than the requested medium rare. Despite this minor hiccup, the overall quality of the dish still shone through, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to culinary excellence. Beyond the food, Anthony Jack's excels in providing top-notch service. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring that diners feel welcomed and well-cared for throughout their meal. From recommendations on menu selections to prompt refills of drinks, to tips on what to do while in town, the service consistently exceeds expectations. In summary, Anthony Jack's Wood Fired Grill delivers a memorable dining experience characterized by good flavor, though with a slight miss on steak temperature. However, the outstanding service more than makes up for any minor shortcomings, leaving diners satisfied and eager to return for another delicious meal.

I put one star because the waiter was nice. Unfortunately the food here is very bland and has little to no seasoning. Me and my boyfriend had a hard time eating the food since it was mostly tasteless and off putting. Also when we were waiting for our entrees to come out we heard someone drop and break dishes. My boyfriend made a joke that it was probably our food. And it definitely seemed that way since it took longer then other tables for our food to come out and not only that but when I went to eat my entree in the first couple of bites I crunched on something hard ..which definitely looked like a piece of broken plate. I was scared to eat the rest of my food because I didn’t know if there were more pieces in the food. Also the entree itself didn’t have much taste. It was shrimp jambalaya which is usually a very flavorful dish which makes me think it wasn’t properly made. I told the waiter and a manager about chewing on a sharp object and they just didn’t charge me for the entree (which I didn’t eat anyways) he didn’t offer anything else for my bad experience and something that could have potentially harmed me. I left still hungry and a bit upset and ended up just eating packet ramen at home. I don’t recommend this restaurant not only for that bad experience I had which I get it, accidents happen but I don’t believe it was handled appropriately by management. To let a customer leave hungry and upset.
