Pure Skin MedSpa — Local services in Southington

I have been going to this establishment for laser hair removal since the summer of 2015. I purchased a package of 6 sessions. So far I've had 5. The spa has a nice atmosphere, but there is always a lot of pressure to buy other products. For example, I was talked into purchasing a micro-derm abrasion facial. My skin is very sensitive and highly reactive. After booking the appointment, I thought I'd better not go through with the procedure, as I just don't think it would truly benefit my skin type, and may actually cause more harm. But shouldn't they have considered that with a consultation prior to talking me into the booking?

My laser treatments...I think the area I worked on had various types of hair. Meaning some were finer, some were thicker. After 5 treatments, the thicker/darker hairs are gone, but the fine hairs still remain. I feel like the laser isn't even touching them, as they grow back immediately after the laser is applied. I have gone for other laser treatments in the past, and the laser actually damages and slows the regrowth so that hair takes 1-2 months to grow back. With the type of laser Pureskin is using, I feel like its just not the best for my hair type. When I addressed my concerns, I was told that I needed to keep going. But I have to wonder why I had better results at a different establishment with a different laser...?

I also feel they didn't explain anything at all. Just book the appointment and you go right in. Other establishments, like Anti-aging Centers, have a laser consultation, where they go over what I should expect, and other safety information like what medications can affect the skin that's been treated with the laser.

Also, Pureskin doesn't fully discuss which areas you are paying for, so you really need to clarify what your expectations are with EACH laser hair treatment appointment, or you may not get the same areas done as completely as you should. Ex: One technicians idea of what a Brazillian is can be very different from another. It is best to establish what areas you want done with EACH new technician, as they have several in the office. I missed out on areas being treated that I paid for because they didn't ask me what my expectations are or go over what areas were supposed to be done.

Overall, I think this place is on the right track, but I don't feel they are offering me a permanent hair removal solution. It's hard to keep buying sessions when you don't see the results you have seen with other laser treatments. I don't think they are using the right laser for my hair type, but don't seem to offer any other laser type. I also feel a lot of pressure to use their other services, buy membership, book facials and the like. I just wanted hair removal and I don't even feel like they are committed to giving me the best outcome. I had a much better experience at Anti-Aging Centers in West Haven. I know I’m really laying it on thick here (like a good hyaluronic acid cream) but this is simply an uncommonly good office, with special people running it. They see the beauty in every person they treat, and you never feel like they want to change you. I leave feeling like I’ve been revealed, not altered. I leave feeling taken care of. If you were waiting for a sign that this is a place you might want to try, consider this your sign!

I came to Pure Skin following my precious Michelle from another salon. Coming to Pure Skin with Michelle has opened my eyes to a whole new world in skin care. Ways to make my sun worshipping ways of my 20s and 30s disappear. There are so many peels to try, if you are brave, try the Vi peel. Its 10 minutes with Michelle and a week of you taking care of the rest. The results are worth the effort!

They offer SO many things, its everything you could ever want to fight the hands of time WITHOUT a scalpel. I have even given injections a try. Seeing Jenna, my personal favorite, you want to look just like her. She is beautiful without looking plastic in any way. She IS a living Barbie.

The memberships are SO worth the money! If you are gonna invest... people....INVEST! We only get one skin, take care of it. These are the people to teeat you, teach you and set you up for the best you hiding behind years of mistakes.

UPDATE On July 13th, I came, at rhe suggestion of Michelle, to see Kelsey, a magnificent medical massage therapist. I was having migraine and mid back issues and I was told migraines were uer specialty. She was amazing and don't let her size fool you, she is very strong when she needs to be and delicate when she needs to be. She helped me SO much.
