I've seen a few of you post about Macho Tequila's which inspired me to try their food over the weekend. I was surprised to see the room as vacant as it was on a Saturday night. After talking with the owner, Danny, he said that he's never 'packed' but he is always steady.
Looking at their menu, it reminded me of a number of #delicious Mexican restaurants I've dined at in the past. The tri-fold menu offered everything from breakfast to dinner entrées and so much more. I wasn't sure how hungry I was not to mention I didn't want to buy more food than I was prepared in case I didn't enjoy everything and there was the potential for leftovers. The last thing, or things, I'd want a restaurant owner to see is food that wasn't completed and/or going to waste.
The salsa (both red and green) that came with the chips was out of sight! The chips were hot and fresh, which is always a good sign. After perusing the choices, I ordered two shrimp tacos, a la carte. When my food arrived, I couldn't wait to squeeze fresh lime over the tacos and dive in. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, The fresh ingredients that accompanied the meat inside of the corn tortillas were equally pleasing. I told the owner when he came by to check on how things were, "excuse my mouth (thankfully no one was in the room) but this food is f_cking FANTASTIC." He smiled big and thanked me. After chatting with him for about 20 minutes, he said that he almost gave up on everything after 4-6 months. Something finally clicked and now he's owned the restaurant for 8 years.
I don't mean to ramble about everything but I will strongly advise you to stop in and eat their food. Danny said the Burning Man crowd always dines with him every year, which says something seeing his restaurant is (kind of) off the beaten path.
Thanks for taking a moment to indulge me. I hope you take the time to enjoy the incredible food prepared, served at...
Read moreWOW! My husband and I stumbled upon Macho Tequilas after our original plan to hit the Korean wing spot next door fell throughâturns out they werenât open during the hours listed, and I was a little salty at first. But then my husband suggested, "How about we try this Mexican place next door?" I figured, why not? We're already here.
And oh. my. goodness. Best decision ever! I am SO thankful the wing place was closed! The food at Macho Tequilas was absolutely phenomenal! The albondigas soup was hands down the best Iâve had outside of my Mexican mother-in-lawâs kitchen. It was comforting, flavorful, and just hit the spot in every way. My husband went with the chicken mole, and it was equally deliciousâtender chicken drenched in a rich, perfectly balanced sauce that had just the right amount of depth and sweetness.
This place is an authentic hidden gem. If you're in the area, you need to check it out. Oh, and donât even think about leaving without trying the flanâit was the perfect end to our meal, rich and silky with just the right amount of sweetness.
In short, Macho Tequilas is a must-try! Trust me, you...
Read moreThis is really good place for authentic tacos and Mexican food. BUT I called in an order for tacos. A side of guacamole and a side of beans. I got the tacos and the beans. The ââ side of guacamole was two 2oz containers with a scoop of guacamole. And two 2oz cups of red sauce and a bag of chips. There is that. But this is why I am taking the time to write this one star review. I had a long gross hair in my taco. When I called him back, and asked if he has a female on the back of the house preparing that has long black hair, he said â Oh let me go lookâ What? Whatâs that? No apologies. No questions? No offer of a free taco? Spent $25.00 for a pick up with tip. For an incorrect order and a hair in my food.Horrible customer service . Because the food in this place is great. Customer service in regards to a complaint horrible lost my service. And that was my second visit in a week. I was so impressed with my familyâs dinner I went and ordered a pick up. Now Iâll never return If you donât mind a hair in your food. This...
