Monterrey Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Spartanburg

I would normally rate this venue at least four stars as we have been weekly patrons since we’ve moved to the area last year. This evening we arrived in our team uniforms as we’ve done quite a bit recently. After waiting by the front counter for some time, we eventually left as a number of staff made eye contact but did not acknowledge us. I asked if we should seat ourselves; I was simply ignored. This behavior was inconsistent with our past experiences, but it hurt. I wished to leave a review for the owner without providing a rating; however Google doesn’t allow this. I rarely leave any reviews—especially those that are negative. I’m just very disappointed.

UPDATE: I have since returned to Monterrey's a couple times. As I had hoped and expected, the service was much improved and consistent with their reputation. I also want to thank the ownership for their acknowledgement, which is sincerely all I wanted. I look forward to dining...

I'd give a 4.5 if the system would let me. Good food, courteous service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the service needs to work a bit on accuracy. At my last visit, I'd requested an ingredient I couldn't eat left out, and the server repeated it the detail when reviewing the order. The kitchen apparently didn't listen, and the item was mixed into the food. For me it was just an annoyance, but I've family and friends that had it been one of their food allergies, there'd be a serious issue. The server realized the mistake after the meal was delivered, and to her credit, made a good effort to compensate for the oversight. Then she went and refilled my unsweet tea with sweet tea. Big no-no for hypoglycemic/diabetic. She didn't catch that one. Despite these mistakes, I'd still eat there again, and would recommend it. I'll just have to keep an eye on what...

9/14/18 6:15pm. Bad service and too loud and busy to focus on what matters. Customers behind us got up and left. We were seated up front. A server dropped off chips and salsa but when we asked for more cups she huffed and never returned. The waitress did not take orders in the order of how we were seated so people waiting 5 minutes were served before us and abd we had been waiting 15 minutes just to put in a drink order. We were they over an hour and most of that was spent waiting for drinks and food. They only refilled our cups once and we have kids. One of our orders was wrong but we didnt have an hour to wait on it to be fixed so we just kept it. They couldn't even bring us salsa because they ran out of cups. Food was good but cheese tastes like the white velveeta and not the usual cheese. 2 stars since food was decent.....
