Panera Bread — Restaurant in Spartanburg

Update to the update How on Earth can this restaurant be out of bread for sandwiches?! Went in at 8pm, tonight. There was no bread and no desserts in the cases. Those people were ready to go home. That's all there is to it. This is a common theme in the reviews also. My gosh, I want this place to be good SO BADLY! I love Panera but this one angers me 99% of the time I go in. The people preparing the food do a great job (when we can actually order food) Whhyyy do I keep trying?? :(

Update: over the last year or so, this place has declined drastically. I have walked out before ordering at least 4 times because the service was bad/non-existent or the place was filthy. They've been out of coffee countless times. This is not good for a place who offers a monthly coffee subscription. I want this place to be good so badly though so I keep dropping in from time to time. Over the last couple of weeks, I have noticed very positive changes! The place is cleaner, the staff is nice and more attentive. I'm so thankful. I pray this continues.

They have always gotten my custom order correct when I get a chicken chipotle wrap without the chicken. I know this is an odd request so I'm grateful. I drink decaf and last time I got some, it was fresh and good. Way more times than not, it's old and sour. That's a problem with most Panera's though. I placed an order online at 8:32 pm. I picked it up at 8:40 pm. It wasn't ready. I waited and was eventually handed my order. I checked my bag because I know that I should have had more than 1 bag with 3 salads, 2 soups and a sandwich. Sure enough, the second bag was on its way. But the bag that I checked had a customized order and I saw all of the toppi gs on it that I didn't ask for. So, I gave the bags back to the employee and told him to check the order because the customized orders had to be redone because the toppings that thy put on it, the people couldn't have. I was given my bags for the 2nd time and I drove the 45 min home. When I got there and took my food out , I was appalled! Th salads were thrown together with enough lettuce for a bird! I was angry. I paid $47.98 for a huge mess and disappointment. And to top it off my soup , French onion ha no cheese or croutons. Just the brothe with onions. The only item in the bag that was correct was the chicken noodle soup. I even asked for 2 bags of chips and 2 baguettes and I received 4 bags of chips instead. I was furious!! If I wanted to give away $47, I would have randomly given it to someone. However, I dont like to pay for goods and services that are less than the standards that they should be. If the restaurant did not want to prepare my order due to the close time of closing, then they should have refunded my money as soon as I walked in. I am still upset by...

I was very disappointed last evening as my family has enjoyed the "chicken salad" (nappa?) for years. For some reason..regardless of how I placed my order from the register- to the pick up counter, it turned out they just would not listen. A discussion had taken place holding up the line for at least 5-7 minutes. After a $22 order, I got home only to have the equivalent of 2 tablespoons of chicken on a bed over lettuce covered with tomatoes which was Not what we discussed 3 times. Just like in the past, I simply asked and paid for what I though was enough chicken salad in a contain to feed 3 or 4 people with the bread on the side:

There was no Panera bread, the very small portion of chicken salad was extra chunky and dry not to mention a tease. Evidently, it appears that regardless of what you ask for, you will still get it how they want it. I even heard the manager walk past and tell the guy finishing order to put lettuce in a soup cup for orders without bread..so I thought that not my order..I even told him it was not my order, but he kindly insisted I had what I ordered..only to get all the way home and unpack this expensive order to see I didn't even have enough to feed everyone.
