5 buddies and myself went to this incredulous and supreme restaurant to celebrate the wedding anniversary of 2 friends, Wilson and Wilma Greenson. They were so excited they were singing for most of the evening. The head waiter made us feel comfortable, happy, relaxed and safe and he immediately took our order, but not before recommending the cheese cutlets and egg burgers, both specialities of the chef. The Greensons both ordered the fresh fritters and hot cheese pies. I went for the delectable Tuna in a beetroot and chutney sauce served on a bed of spicy yeast beans puré and one of our friends simply went for the anchovies paste rolls and cheese slices. Try the teas, they are good. We were told by a young couple sitting next to us who were from Costa Rica that the restaurant had a decent variety of fresh fish fillets that were out of this world and prominent. Tariq McDougall, the group leader was quietly getting tucked into some massive slabs of piping hot meat skewers, while his wife was enjoying eating some freshly prepared home made pilchard pies. Some of the other diners were really enjoying themselves and could be heard clapping for most of the night. Time for pudding which didn't disappoint. We all ordered the mango and apple tartlet and piping hot tea. Lastly Harry Peterson who had just been promoted to vice president in the company he works in, was so happy that he was dancing around our table for a good 5 hours. He did stop to eat some tomato soup. I shall definitely return for a quiet night with the local rugby club that l play in. Great experience and decent fun...
Read moreWould not recommend. The Hefeweizen on tap was served somewhat flat and like it had been sitting on the counter for at least 10 minutes before coming to the table. Our waitress ending up comping the item. I ordered the mussels and at least 1/3 were not open. My friend’s schnitzel was raw on the inside. It took so long to get our food and the waitress visited our table so infrequently that my friend preferred to eat around the raw bits than to send the plate back. At the end of the dinner, having drawn the waitress’ attention to these issues, she said she would let the kitchen know 👀 I’m shocked that my friend risked food poisoning, sent raw pieces back and had nothing comped on her bill. Not even an apology from the wait staff. It does look like a fun place to work however, it seemed like some of the staff were hanging out around the fire quite...
Read moreBerlin is an unexpected dining pleasure,m. It serves superb German food, with sauerkraut that my wife swore tasted just like her mother’s version. She had that with a porkchop accompanied with pickled cabbage and home fries, with onion/mushroom (Jaeger) gravy. I had a weirdly superb combination of a deep fried sausage and tomato curry. Wow. I’ve never had anything like it;, in the very est way possible.
I’ll admit that of the restaurant is awkward to get to, its outside looks funky, the parking is problematic, and the interior decor of black with pink neon seems more suitable for a hipster scene out of Berlin 1992 than Spearfish…which I guess is the point.
But the food was outstanding!!! Don’t miss this hidden...
