This was such a disappointment. Great atmosphere and definitely convenient being in the hotel, but the young servers were more interested in flirting with each other in packs than providing service and doing their jobs. If you like feeling like your seated under the bleachers of a high school pep rally, you might enjoy it. I’m being generous by rating the service at 2 stars because of the one person working in the bar who was professional, working hard, and tried to help by apologizing and sending us to the shift supervisor when we explained our disappointment. The shift supervisor was too engrossed in leaning over a booth wall flirting with a customer to acknowledge us, so we just gave up and left. Let’s talk about the food. My husband ordered the bangin shrimp bowl… which our server said “a lot of people have bought” when we asked her about her favorites or recommendations for our meal. It was a lackluster presentation and a small portion for the price, but the flavor was pretty good- 6/10. I ordered the lemon pepper salmon with garlic mashed potatoes and chose the French onion soup in lieu of a salad. We waited quite a while for our drinks, and even a bit longer than we should’ve for our food- particularly given that there were only a handful of tables and a whole pack of teenagers posing as servers. Anyway- I didn’t get the soup before the meal, it all came out at once. Ok. The French onion soup was just ok… but, to be fair, I was really hungry. Next up, the garlic mashed potatoes were gray and were a hard half ball scooped onto a dish with an ice cream scoop- appetizing? Absolutely not. BUT, as mentioned previously, I was hungry and gave them a swipe with my fork. Wow… they need to start over- maybe google the recipe for a garlic mashed potato. These dry and clunky (did I mention they were gray!?) potatoes tasted AWFUL. I couldn’t swallow it. The level of spice/herbs in those potatoes was absurd. Someone along the way dropped a whole container of oregano and (maybe sage!??) into those potatoes. No garlic. No smooth whipped goodness. They tased like 4 day old leftover Thanksgiving dressing because of the level of herbs in there. I abandoned the potatoes and moved on to the salmon. It was a lemon pepper salmon, and even though my tastebuds were already destroyed by the overpowering herbal bomb potatoes, the fish was overcooked to nearly rubber and very peppery, black pepper was the only flavor. I asked for lemon wedges (after my husband finally got up and chased said teenage server down and asked for some)- the lemon helped some. We considered dessert (and maybe an after dinner cocktail to help kill the herbal bomb in my mouth), but couldn’t seem to get anywhere. We finally decided we’d better call it and leave because our patience was running thin.
In retrospect, we should’ve just walked...
Read moreApril 10, 2024 - I am editing the review that I wrote 4 months ago (December 2023). Our group has gone back to Lucky's 13 in the last month and are very pleased with everything about our experience. Apparently some changes have been made, as the service has been great, the food has been what we ordered, delicious, and served on time. We couldn't be happier and will continue coming back. We hope that the staff will remain, as they do a great job!
December 2023 - 5 of us couples have dinner in local restaurants every Friday night. We have eaten at Lucky's 13 more because there is room for us, and the food and service has always been good. However, this is no longer the case. Last night we were the first patrons in the dining room and were the last ones to get our food. Another large group came in later and were served and gone before all of us were served. Some of our group were done eating before the rest of us even had our food. Our food was cold and those who ordered flat bread were given pizzas instead, which has happened the last two times. Since this had happened in the past, those who wanted flatbread asked if pizza would be substituted and were told "no, you will be given flatbread". We had to ask for silverware and napkins. The server said that he was new and apologized several times for what was happening. We have had issues such as this the last few times that we've eaten here and we're not willing to go through this again. We know that staffing can be a challenge, but there is no excuse for poor service, not getting what we order,...
Read moreAs a former restaurant owner, I despise leaving bad reviews and try to give a place the benefit of the doubt and talk to a manager instead because I know how it goes. We've had both bad and good experiences at Lucky 13's in the past. We saw a Thursday night deal on the huge flashing sign down the road for $12 tips and chips, and decided to give it a try. I didn't see it on the menu so I specifically asked our waitress about it and was told yes I could get it. Turns out she is brand new (with no one helping her) and I ended up getting $20 steak tips with a side of lays potato chips. They tasted fine but definitely not what I asked for. My husbands drink was only filled once when i tracked our waitress down ( again, new waitress, so benefit of the doubt). We got a giant pretzel appetizer that came out after our food and was so hard and burnt, we couldn't break it or cut it and had to have it remade. My last straw was my bill included a $3 charge for milk that was included in the kids meal. I asked for it to be fixed. Another girl helped her and I was told it didn't matter of they put it with the kids meal or not, it's still $3 more. It's included and I showed her the paper stating so with a response of "oh". I then asked to speak to a manager because we had so many problems. I was told yes, but a manager never came over. However the $3 magically disappeared, so I guess they figured everything should be good to go. For $75 for 2 adults and a toddler I...
