Busy Bee Cafe — Restaurant in Spencer

The staff were all very lovely and checked in on us excellently for how busy they were. The food was good but nothing exciting or too memorable but for the price it was exactly good and acceptable although the menu was somewhat confusing and cluttered. My spouse ordered a hot tea which came out with the Great Valu brand tag on it and it had almost no flavor. The coffee I had was basically hot water with some coffee. For being called a cafe it was disappointing that the drinks were extremely limited and very under par. They had a cappuccino offer but we were informed, thankfully, that it was just a mix with water poured on it. The atmosphere is pretty cheap all around, the wood on the walls is unfinished with splinters and shavings falling off. The decor involved rusty licence plates and local news clippings in frames. Absolutely no sound dampeners around any tables so there was a constant scrapping and banging. We were informed upfront that the wait would be 45 min - 1 hr so no complaints there about the wait time as we were properly informed. My spouse ordered some pancakes and they were decent, they tasted like white cake mix so flavorful but not filling. I ordered a skillet scramble which was very flavorful with excellent gravy and great potatoes. Excellent staff, good food, but everything else fell very short. But it's a new place so hopefully it only goes up from here! I will definitely be back to see...

The food was very good. We both had the BLT on Texas toast with tater tots. There were 6 slices of perfectly cooked bacon, 2 slices of tomatoes, sufficient lettuce, and mayo served on Texas toast with a side of crispy taste tots for $7.99. The diet pepsi and ice tea each cost $2.99, which, in my opinion, is too expensive. So if we go again we'll get water to drink. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered unsweetened tea and she brought sweet tea, but she might not have been able to hear me as the acoustics are terrible there. My husband and I weren't able to talk to each other because the sounds of the other diners and the music were bouncing off the ceiling and reverberating all around. Hopefully they'll add some sound buffers on the ceiling to solve...

Atmosphere is very loud like a cafeteria. The sides of the chairs had food stuck to them. The food was extremely basic and they don’t know how to make omelettes at this restaurant. It was literally like someone stirfried vegetables and put them on top of my fried egg. The coffee is basic Folgers and is super weak. The coffee should not be consumed. Everything here is extremely basic and it is like you are stepping back in time. Such a shame. We were really hoping to go to a new Spencer restaurant that we could enjoy and return to regularly.
