I ordered pickup on Doordarsh from this place. At first, I thought "this place is a front", it's on THAT part of Sprague, and therefore automatically has a sketchy vibe. However, I don't care if it is a front, I'm starving, and it's hard to find decent Asian/Chinese cuisine around here, and I've already come this far, I am committed. I'm talking to the person I'm with as we walk in to this dead quiet restaurant, there's no music or anything, it just threw me off and made me feel weird as hell, like I'm causing a scene. Whoopsie. Anyway, I give the gal my name and order info, she tells me it's almost ready. Fine, I was almost ten minutes early as it was. I didn't have to wait long, so that's nice. There is a small waiting area near the front counter. It's pretty basic, not a whole lot of decor, could use some updating for the more bougie customers, you probably get the idea. As we got our grub to go, the gal handed me their menu and kindly suggested ordering directly from the restaurant next time, it's cheaper. It would have been significantly cheaper had I not had Doordarsh credits. It's not terribly expensive, roughly $17 per dish. I ordered the General Tsos Chicken and chicken lo mein. It was about 10 lbs of food for $15 (with aforementioned credits) plus tip, because I've worked in food and beverage, it is customary to tip, okay? Okay. The food was pretty decent! I'll say it was the best Chinese/Asian food I've had around here, but I won't pretend to have eaten at every other similar restaurant in the area. The general tsos chicken wasn't soggy, even after driving the almost 15 minutes home. It was still fresh and hot and pretty darn good, but not as spicy as I prefer. The noodles were bomb. Fresh, hot, honestly the noodles were a little overcooked but not too badly. Packed with veggies. Next time I'll probably get the veggie lo mein, as I wasnt crazy about the large chicken chunks, and it seems wasteful and disrespectful to the bird that gave its life to be my dinner. They packed the containers full, by the way. No way two people are getting through that much food, so be prepared for that. Bring all your friends and family, and maybe a portable speaker if you plan to dine in. Overall, not too shabby, would recommend...
Read moreReally slow service. Told a “few minutes” multiple times - about 20 minutes in between, which is a bit more than a few. Was also told an hour into waiting that they did not have our order - but went to check again and never came back to talk with us. After hearing this twice, they forgot our names - so makes you question if they actually know what you ordered.
Continue to complain that it is crazy like this all the time, but they have not attempted to make any changes or improvements. Just like to make comments how the food that people don’t come to pickup, they get to take home.
Waitress kept leaving conversations mid-speaking with to go order people (3 hour backup). Customer offered to help with pouring water for a table to take off stress and she thanked her and said yes. Next waitress came out and yelled at the customer. I totally understand there’s liability issues, but there much better ways to talk to humans without being disrespectful.
Other waitress yelled at customers who were complaining about the wait to other customers - told them they had not been waiting that long and yelled across the room to have another waitress ring them up. Even if they hadn’t been, again, there’s no need to yell at customers. Customers are going to complain. I’ve done customer service and food service for years so I have seen the worst and yelling at customers makes nothing better.
$80 to wait 3 hours and have our order lost probably 5 times. Really disappointed. I’ve done the working on Christmas Eve thing, I’ve done done the really understaffed thing, but offering to check on someone’s meal and help out 5+ times and forgetting to is ridiculous. Please treat people kindly, as the customers in the waiting room waiting 3 hours were so respectful and kind but we’re being disrespected...
Read moreFirst time review! I ordered the almond chicken, and the generals chicken, for take out. One with rice, the other with noodles for an addition 2.50. Both were way beyond expectations!! The quality of the cuts of chicken really stood out. No fatty pieces whatsoever. Also they had a perfect fried crispness that is hard to find. Simply perfect!! The sticky rice exactly that, just the way it should be. Noodles were good too. The portions for the price paid were unbelievable!! There's some real value here, ive got enough for two more meals at least. Also had egg rolls that were the size of a soda can. No joke!! Wife enjoyed the potatoes in the egg drop soap. 6 piece order of springs rolls which I didn't even order were fantastically crisp. Much appreciated!! The real star of the show though was the red sauce they give im assuming with the spring rolls. It was sweet and sour with the slightest hint of hot mustard. Omg. I'll be ordered extra cups of that next time, wow!! I'm so glad I gave them a chance!! Happiness is exactly the experience I had tonight!!
*After reading other reviews stating the place was dirty, I did not feel this way. Granted I only ordered take out which ill have to assume they make the money from as three people were picking up while I was there. I ordered at 8pm and food was out at 835. I waited five minutes there before it was out. Delightful hostess as well. I followed Google to get here but I didn't see any kind of a billboard or sign, just a heads up. Which makes me believe 85 percent of their business must be online pick up. No biggie. Also, having a vacuum out while charging is not a bother to...
