Went here last weekend for lunch as recommended by a good friend.
The outside of the restaraunt is easily dismissed for its old timey plain exterior. I would never have stopped in if she hadnt recommended it.....wow, what a hidden gem!
Immediately upon walking in I felt a comfort in the murmur and laughter of conversation of people gathered at the bar. My friend and I were seated for lunch. The menu was surprisingly nostalgic with some entrees I hadnt eaten in years as well as updated items that reflected current items found on modernized pub menus.
I was struck by the casual ambience and the vintage interior was relaxing. Alex seated us and shared his thoughts on the entrees when I asked about them. The food was excellent (shrimp basket) and the fries were some of the best Ive had in a long time!
It may not appeal to all because its definitely not a slick glass and steel uppity yuppy sterile feeling interior but if one is looking for a tasty bite and a warm spot to relax (think of "Cheers") then this is it..... It is a true neighborhood gathering spot! I will be back with friends. I definitely want several items on that menu before I shout out my...
Read moreHaven't visited this place for several years, and I'm not sure when I might visit again. The selection on the menu is great and varied, but the place didn't have some of the items. When we went entered we were told that the special was some type of hamburger and the soup of the day. My dinner partner had looked on the menu online and really wanted the pork chops. When the waiter/bartender came to take our order we were informed the burger special was gone. When my partner said pork chops he was informed that they were out of pork chops. So my partner ordered meat loaf, once again he was informed that they were out of meatloaf. So we ended up both ordering the broasted chicken. I got fries with mine and he got jo-jos. I must admit that the chicken was some of the best that I have had and the fries were fantastic. His jo-jos though were burnt. Service was somewhat slow which was strange as there were maybe 5-6 people in the place. If I am in the mood for broasted chicken I might take the trip back to this place, but then...
Read moreCertainly some of the friendliest staff we've encountered in the Spokane metro, and every one of them in continuous movement taking care of the dining and bar area. Made it all seem so effortless. The Broasted Chicken here is the stuff of legend. Been over a decade since my last visit, and it was my Wifey's first time. The new owners are doing the food just how I remembered. Just with more smiles than the last management, haha. Last night's dinner we went with a large order of their Broasted Wings, and they were fantastic. Big, meaty, perfectly crispy on the outside, and perfectly done on the inside. I also ordered their house Burger, and the Macaroni Salad that I selected as a side was amazing. It had shredded white-meat chicken, and could have been a meal in itself. Parking can be tricky at peak times, but it's definitely worth half a block's walk to visit. It's one of the oldest restaurants in the city, and they're still hitting it outta the park. The new ownership/team...
