I’ve never been here before. I was just exploring Saturday afternoon for a place to grab a decent bite to eat. I walked in and was greeted by the executive chef and was able to seat myself which was refreshing.
It has a lower and roof patio which are both great if you want a little less music and want to have more conversation.
There is a chalk wall with some drawings and inspirational sayings on it and chalk to add your saying or drawing.
There are two televisions by the bar area with different sports on them which was nice. The place is an awesome neighborhood bistro off the map but delicious.
I stopped in Saturday afternoon around 3:30pm. The place is clean and doesn’t have that typical bar and restaurant smell. There is a wood fired oven going and being fed by the cook.
I had a great Reuben made to order (hold the special sauce) add stone ground mustard. The bread was toasted with no grease or butter on it. (Amazing). The fries were fresh and cooked perfectly. They weee sprinkled with season salt and pepper which was perfect.
Available sauces and seasonings are Cholula, red and green Tabasco, Heinz57, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, Parmesan cheese, and (the best stuff for fries) malt vinegar.
While wasting I saw staff drying off silverware before putting them out which means no spots on yours.
They bring you a bottle of water and a scotch glass so you don’t have to ask for refills which is very nice.
The kitchen is open so you can see what is going on.
I could not ask for a better spot to get a...
Read moreRemedy Needs a Remedy! My partner and I relocated to South Hill and were excited to have a neighborhood casual dining spot. After not dining out for 2 years we ate on the rooftop area early on a quiet Saturday night. On arrival there was no wait, and only afew diners inside, we were told to go up and claim a table. We were given a bottle of water and two glasses, and after 15 minutes we asked for a menu....we ordered a bottle of wine, an appetizer and a salad with 'prawns' and a baguette to share...the wine came promptly, 45 minutes later a busboy brought our food without the baguette. We asked both the busboy and waiter for the baguette(we had the clams and needed it for what looked like great sauce.) The baguette never came, the waiter never came back, my partner had to go in search of a pepper grinder for the Caesar salad, which he found at the service table...No one ever came back , not with bread, the needed pepper for the salad, to check on the rubbery overcooked shrimp, nothing....We finally caught the waiters attention and he listened to our plight, and without an apology or attempt to make it right, or make us want to ever come back he said, "it's comped then, OK?" Mediocre food, unknown service issues? and simple food knowledge and presentation made this a less than reasonable alternative to...
Read moreNot many vegan options :/
Update:
Thank you for your response. I appreciate you taking the time to engage with my feedback.
While I did try the hummus platter, unfortunately, I did not enjoy it. The hummus itself was stale and chunky, and some of the tomatoes had mold on them. I chose not to make a scene about it at the time, but it definitely affected my experience. Additionally, when I asked about vegan options, I was initially told there were none, which made me feel that plant-based options weren’t a regular offering. The mention of an "Impossible patty in the back of the freezer" also gave the impression that it wasn’t a fresh, regularly available option, which was off-putting.
In the end, I only ate the pita and fries, but even then, I left a large portion behind, especially considering the $40 price tag. I didn’t raise these issues at the time, as I wanted to be discreet, but since you’ve brought it up, I felt it was important to share my full experience.
I hope this feedback helps, and I do appreciate your attention to it. Freshness, consistency, and clarity about menu options could really elevate the dining experience.
Thank you again for...
