I would give negative stars if I could. After the treatment I received this evening from a staff member named Nate (allegedly a manager), I am never returning here again, and unless you enjoy burnt food served to you with disdain and arrogance, I do not recommend giving any money to this restaurant. I used to order pizza here regularly, 3-4 times per month. During the last year the pizzas have been increasingly burnt on the bottom, 1/3 to 1/2 charred pitch black, bitter to the palate and inedible, far beyond an inappropriate amount of the "wood fire char" that is their brand identity. A few of the staff members are extremely helpful when this happens, they apologize with sincerity, concur that it was burnt and inedible, and they politely offer to remake the order, on two occasions I was even given nominal gift cards due to the inconvenience of needing to wait for the order to be remade. For whatever reason Nate takes it personally when I bring to his attention that the pizza is burnt and somehow from his perspective their mistake becomes my fault. Tonight, he was not only rude but extremely aggressive, he came to the other side of the counter into my personal space, towering over me and waving his arms in the air while screaming about how according to him I complain every time when in reality I have been served by him only two times (actually the last time I was there about two weeks ago when he wasn't working my pizzas were properly made and not burnt, I made no complaints, and I was relieved not to have to request and to wait for yet another order refire). Also, as other reviewers have noted, there are other staff members that are extremely condescending and rude.
It's truly a shame, the toppings are exceptional, and this place has the potential to be the best pizza restaurant in Spokane, however the execution is abysmal and most of all the "customer service" is outright unacceptable. I worked in restaurants for 20 years, I spent 7 years as a front of the house manager, and I would never allow a customer or more importantly a co-worker to be treated in the threatening way Nate behaved; he should not be working with the public, and he would benefit from attending an anger management class. Thanks to Nate, I am done playing burnt pizza roulette with this place. I have never taken the time to write a negative review for any business, but I feel a duty to warn others in an attempt to spare them the disappointment of getting burnt food and the discomfort of navigating...
Read moreStruggling a bit with this review. We had a large party 11 adults and 1 toddler. We called in advance and asked about reservations and we were told first come first served. So we arrived early at about 5:35pm and asked about a table for 11. The initial contact person went and got someone else who came back and told us 45 mins. Ok we said but then she told us we should just go across the way to another place . That’s when the weird vibes started as we decided to wait. This person either clearly didn’t want a large party or small children. When we told her we would wait and head to the bar. The bartender was great but then this same person told us we couldn’t stand and we needed to sit so they did but then we were told we could sit in the area she told us to sit at. Everyone else was so nice and happy with our large group but this person. It was so odd. I even asked her what we were doing wrong and if she didn’t want us there. We finally got a table after an hour and then we sat and we didn’t get menus. It was like miss bad vibes blue hair was trying to make us wait longer. Who knows. But luckily our waiter Dan changed the entire vibe of our dinner. He was attentive and got our menus and our orders rolling. Luckily the food was great. The Brussel sprouts were beyond charred but the pizza was great. We left a nice tip for Dan and the bartender. Hopefully they don’t have to share it with...
Read moreLove the food and the atmosphere. Best pizza in town by far! Don’t go splitting it with someone. Always get your own. I eat half of a Kiernen and the other half makes for delicious breakfast! Egg, sausage, cheese, arugula tossed in truffle oil! Or just east a whole pie. You can do it
UPDATE: Well that was rude. I have been a regular customer at both Pi and Flying Goat since they each opened. I was craving the Kiernen last night (Tuesday), called to order one to-go, and no answer, so I drove up the hill to discover they were closed for construction. No problem. Maybe they will extend the deal tomorrow. I called today- and it wasn’t that I didn’t get the answer I had hoped for, it was Andy’s tone. His ‘no’ and chuckle before I could even finish a sentence. As if my request was that ridiculous. Not sure I will be back as often. Time will tell but definitely not going to continue to rave about their pizzas to familiars or strangers and risk them having a poor experience. I tell a lot of doctors I work with and wouldn’t want them to have a poor experience. So… I called back and thanked my stars I got someone else, ordered a pi to-go. Back on schedule. I didn’t enjoy it as much with the mood killing Andy experience. I ordered regular pizzas to-go through covid, trying to help keep my favorite spots open. Always tip $5 on a $12 deal. Today I tipped $3 on a $17...
