I changed my review and gave this fine little establishment it's due. I don't just have a once over and that's it. WHAT I would like to add here is this: The place is somewhere you can bring your family to. It's got paneling and plain tables and pictures of a Vietnam war veteran and a fireman they are proud of on the wall. It's,...like that place which has been there for years....and still is!! That in itself is a miracle today....that weathering the storm is not a new concept to them! The recent visit of Hurricane Florence took surrounding communities apart in winds and rising waters and rushing river flooding. The plain little yellow diner on the hill where the road forks was persevering for their public. They serve it like it's just out of your own kitchen... and you know we didn't always do that right either, but it's pretty good. I know we seated ourselves, got decent service, and ate our sandwiches over conversation we could hear. It seemed like I'd been there before many times and yet, if I ever went there while a paratrooper, I don't remember it. The thing that stands out for me is that when I went back to the reviews... I saw something that surpassed. There was responses for comments.... to Thank or Apologize the rating citizens. It speaks to the attention and effort that someone(Owner) goes to in order to try and hear the customer. It matters to them. Tells me they want to continue what they should and correct whatever they can. I couldn't be prouder of "the little kitchen that's still kickin!! Surviving in the business today for a couple years is nothing short of a miracle and persevering through time, well ....rare. I want to go back now...for breakfast....or just coffee....or a plate of the special. Just to keep 'em going! To say "Thanks" for being here. You make a difference. You are bigger than first impression might imply. You speak for the ages and you are feeding the folks that come by with more than just food....you steady them. You keep on keeping...
Read moreIn response to Mr. Chris Haines and for everyone in general: I found Cedar Point to be nothing short of remarkable - bottom line. Here is why: I am Southern born and raised too. My family and I cook eggs and pancakes every week and they never come out the same from one batch to the next - why would I expect any different from a local restaurant? That is exactly why I eat solely at local restaurants - for an individual experience! I challenge anyone, to include Mr. Haines, to do their research into how the corporate food industry as a whole sources, prepares, and cooks their food. Assuming you research well (because Corporate America covers their tracks) and assuming you ever eat out again, you may never go to another chain restaurant. None of them can compare to a local, "Mom & Pop" establishment that locally purchases their food, then prepares and cooks it on-site when you order! If the above was not enough justification, on top of all that Ms. Robertson is clearly an outstanding leader. Her staff loves her, they clearly love serving her clients, she has responded to every post on here going back close to a year, she has obviously made many improvements from its past performance, and she comes from a long family history of servants!
So there you go - I encourage everyone and anyone to eat at Cedar Point! I would so much rather support them than any corporate chain - and I will...
Read moreI'd wanted to visit this restaurant for many years since we moved to the area but hadn't had the time to make it there.
Well, I definitely had time today and I'm so happy I didn't waste the opportunity!
This place is awesome! I tried the chicken fried steak w/white peppered gravy, mashed potatoes w/gravy, and fried okra. Everything was delicious and the food was delivered hot and well-cooked in no time!
The staff was also very kind and attentive. It made for a very comfortable dining experience.
My wife and I grew up in a small town and establishments like this were all over the place there. Finding a spot that reminded me of those great meals I enjoyed as a child when my parents would take us to the smaller restaurants had been hard to come by. Not anymore!
I'm happy to say I'll definitely return for future meals here and I will make sure my wife comes with me.
Many thanks to the staff of the Cedar Point Restaurant for helping to make my first dining experience there...
