Look... sometimes places and servers have off days. So that's what I'm going to assume that is what was going on with my first experience at this location.
We had a party of 10. So I completely understood the 1 hour wait time. No big deal. Then we got to the table. Thank goodness some of the people in our party were small because we barely fit at the table, none of comfortably though.
We placed our drink order. 4 people ordered diet cokes, I ordered a sprite, all of the others varied. The 4 diet cokes came out as regular cokes and the sprite I ordered didn't even make it. I was give a "diet coke" also, even though it wasn't what I ordered. The server was quick to correct the issue once we brought it to her attention.
We placed our order, which took a little longer than one would think it should take. But maybe it was just the uncomfortable seating that made it feel that way.
The orders came out. I ordered a medium rare 8 ounce sirloin. They brought out a 6 ounce. Again the issue was brought up to the server and she said she'd get it corrected right away. 15 minutes later after everyone else was 75% done with their meals, my steak arrived. Overcooked. The manager that brought it out actually asked me if this new steak looked better than the one previously brought out. I told her I didn't even see the last one, it was just the wrong size. She insisted again on me answering if the steak looked better to which I replied "if this is the right size, then yes it looks better". The steak was definitely closer to medium well than medium rare. But I ate it because I wasn't going to wait all over again. It was poorly seasoned and overcooked, so definitely disappointed with the quality of steak I received.
Do I think they could do better if I returned? Maybe. Will I ever return to this location? Unlikely due to the fact I was only in the area for a graduation.
To be fair, nobody else at my table had any complaints other than the seating, so this rating is based purely on my...
Read moreTook my wife and two daughters to Texas roadhouse in wyomissing, PA. for mother's day. We all began eating and I proceeded to cut my wife's steak for her at which time I noticed a glob of hair in her fried onions. I immediately grabbed her plate, got up and headed towards the kitchen when our waitress stopped me and asked what the problem was. I showed her the hair and she apologized and had them start making another plate. When I returned to our table, I sat down and told my daughters to check their food as I checked mine. Well, not surprised, I found one piece of hair in my steak fries. The manager came to the table and apologized for my wife's dinner and then I showed him mine. I could tell he was embarrassed and a little bit mad. I ate my steak and chicken but got rid of the steak fries from my plate. Imagine sitting there and having to look at every bite of food before you eat it. After discovering the hair on my wife's first plate, our day was already ruined. Our bill without the tip was $150.00. But the manager deducted $35 for our troubles. To me, that $35 deduction was an insult considering mother's day is once a year, two plates had hair in them and we had to check every piece of food we picked up before we put it in our mouths. We sat in an end booth where you could see them cooking the food. None of the kitchen workers including the cook I seen who had a beard and mustache were wearing any kind of hair, beard or facial hair net. This was always our go to restaurant since they opened. I won't be able to go there again after what we experienced. I guess management thought knocking $35 off the bill made everything we experienced better. It would have made me think more of the place if our meals were on the house. Just goes to show that money is more important to these owners than keeping future guests. And by the way, after the terrible experience we had there, I still...
Read moreI've dined at this Texas Roadhouse's all over the east coast. I have been a big fan of TR for the last 10 years.
My first and second visits to the Reading location were both in the last three weeks. In short, this restaurant has failed to deliver the consistency that nearly all the other locations I have dined at have been able to provide.
First visit , I got a pretty bad cut of steak. Tough and nervy through the middle. I order the same steak every time I go to TR. I mentioned it to the server and they told me I should have let them know, rather than eating half and they could have gotten me a new one. She didn't come ask me how our food was until I was done eating; regardless, I kind of can't stand sending food back and watching everyone else with me enjoy their dinners while I'm that guy... So oh well.
Second visit was tonight. It wasn't a great cut, but better than my last visit. Unfortunately, the steak was so undercooked I couldn't eat it. My server at the bar offered to throw it on the grill for a minute. About 10 mins later, it came back dry and overdone. It was terrible. So bad that I stopped at a gas station to get some gum to get rid of the aftertaste of burnt dry sirloin.
I spoke with Chris, who I believe is a supervisor, and shared these experiences before the steak came back out overdone and dry. I did mention to both him and my server that the gentleman sitting next to me ordered the same steak and his looked incredible. I don't understand why I keep getting such a bad experience here.
Thinking about it for the next few hours in the car and how this was my only meal of the day, I regret giving this location another chance. I've wasted $100 at this point. Plus it's kind of awkward to sit there and repeatedly share the...
