Crumbl — Restaurant in Spring Township

This is a really tricky place. We were there at 12.30pm on a Saturday. There was no line and we were 3rd to be served. The place was spotless and the design of the store was very inviting. I was there because my granddaughter needed to review this place on your social media platform (she is 11 and got over 700 views within the first hour.) The packaging is really nice making each purchase look like a high class gift. They have used social media to build a huge business. Well done.

Now for the cookies. We got six cookies. As everyone knows they are rather large cookies. We walked out of the store and sat in our car and tasted the variety chosen. Our party included 2 5 year olds, an 11 year old, their mother and myself an avid overeater. The chocolate chip were really good, Peanut butter as well, and the lemon top seemed the best to me. Most of the flavor topped cookies were the same cookie with a flavor topping. Clever idea. They were all hot of the oven. The peanut butter cookie was crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside.

There were 5 of us and 6 cookies. There was approximately 2 cookies in pieces left when we had come to the point where we could eat no more. The tasting was fun and the experience lead to a good time. Some cookies were on the border of being too sweet. Everyone liked a different cookie for a different reason.

We put the cookies in the back of the car and drove off. Some 6 hours later we began picking at the left over cookies. They had definitely changed in flavor and not for the good. This came as a big surprise.

The six cookies were $23. In todays world that is not too bad.

We are from NYC where great cookies are found in a lot of spots and I am a baker who understands the science of cookies. To that end, Crumbl Cookies relies on their marketing flare and social media to gain customers. Poor customer service, and the app is even worse.

I placed an order via the app at 3:20PM. My order would be ready between 3:50 and 4:20. I got there around 4:25/4:30. The app stated to click I'm here," so I did. I was told I was #33 in line (that's THIRTY-THREE)!! How is that even possible, when I had already ordered over an hour prior?!

While waiting inside, I heard the staff telling people that they had run out of a flavor they were ordering. I thought, I'm glad I ordered in advance.

When my name was called, I was told that they had run out of TWO of the FOUR cookie choices I had odered. On the app. Over one hour prior.

I didn't want to replace those cookies with any other ones, so I said I'll take just two but at half of the "box of 4" price. I was credited for the box of four (have to wait three days for the refund to go through), and the girl proceeds to rung me up for two cookies. Two individual cookies at an each price (~$5.00 ea). I said, no, I want to be charged for half of a box of four ($1.00 less per cookie). She told me that was the price of half of four, so I had to point out the pricing structure of the place she works for...then she had to get the manager, who said she can't charge me for a half-box. "Why not," I ask? "I ordered these cookies over an hour ago on your app, WHEN the cookies WERE available, and I get here and they're now NOT available, because you've sold them out from under me AFTER I had already paid, AND you're now charging me individual cookie prices?! She said there is no button for that. 😳 Seriously? Very, very poor customer service, and a very poor...

On Tuesday, July 11 - 23, our family finally met at Crumbl. My daughter has been talking about it for months, and I only heard rave reviews from her, therefore - my partner and I and her boyfriend Zachary got together for dessert after dinner. When I first entered, it looked brand spanking new, very clean and minimalistic, and I saw 4 women work the front and 1 gentlemen in the back. It was very sparse, no chairs or tables, but - a large screen and keypad. There were six cookies on display near the cash register, and a monitor/screen with pics of cookies, name, prices and etc. Each week, 6 brand new different cookies rotate. They are very expensive, close to $5 a cookie, which they are above average in size, but - not quite large or enormous by any standard and/or definition, but - they were scrumptious, light and moist and heavenly to the taste buds, but - the price was just too much for me to swallow. Yes, you do get a discount if you purchase a box of four or more, but - in my book still too expensive. I think they are great for your bday celebration or someone’s else bday or holiday, but - a weekly or even a monthly consumption? No Thank You! Do not get me wrong I thoroughly enjoyed myself in the extravagant indulgence, but - I could purchase a dozen Krispy Kreme’s for app the same price. I guess I am more of a Volkswagen type of guy, aspiring to move up to an Audi one day, but - Crumbl is definitely a Porsche in the cookie world! Have a wonderful day! Thank You...
