This is a not-to-miss place in Las Vegas! It’s just course-after-course-after-course of delicious eats, mostly seafood-based, that seemingly never stops coming out from the kitchen, all making ideal accompaniments to a cold glass of soju.
I won’t say I’ve tried every single sashimi joint in Vegas, but this is among the freshest and most unique places I’ve been to on the west coast. The owner chef presents cuts of tuna that I’ve never had before in my life here or in Japan, and masterfully showcasing the subtle nuances and flavors of the various parts. For $75 per person, there’s a “flounder & tuna” option, which is what we had and I’d recommend.
Sashimi cuts of flounder are a popular raw fish option in Korea. That with a spicy chili paste sauce or the delicious soybean sauce Sashimi Day offers you is always a home run. But the tuna options here — and I’m not a huge fan of tuna — are what’s spectacular. Fresh as can be and as interesting as one can ever make fish, each bite is a delight.
There are multiple “banchan” and appetizer options that are presented before the sashimi including porridge, okonimiyaki, and corn cheese. After the sashimi when you think you can’t possible eat anymore, there are still more options including Korean fish stew, various roe over rice, braised fish and tempura to have with rice. (We ended up having the rest packed to take home because it was impossible to finish after all of the extra tastings we were offered!)
I waited for my friend from SF to come into town to visit Sashimi Day because we are both “seafood killers.” I had felt sick all day before going and still, I found my spirits lifted and my tastebuds titillated within minutes of beginning the meal.
Perhaps equally memorable as the delicious meal are the owners. They operate this six-table joint themselves and go above and beyond to take care of the customers and have them leaving satisfied, full, and happy. And if you do it right, you’ll leave here as tipsy as we did.

Read moreLocated in the Desert Crossing shopping center, this hidden spot nestled on the adjacent side of Smith’s has become the most authentic spot for Korean style sashimi. I have never been more impressed, and I have been to Seoul, Busan, and Jeju and tried countless restaurants, but there is no experience quite like Sashimi Day.
Their safety standards are perfect and aligned with COVID regulations. As you walk in, they confirm your reservation and check your temperature; you can tell all the seating arrangements allow for partitions and at least six feet separation.
I strongly believe in “competitive advantage” when it comes to any market, and the restaurant industry is no exception. Sashimi Day has the absolute freshest fish and Chef Lee drives weekly to California just to select the best seafood, making sure they are alive, up until they are served to you. Chef Lee has been honing his skills as a sashimi chef for nearly thirty years, from Korea to California, and now Las Vegas.
Meat, in all forms — such as beef and pork — truly taste difference when cut a certain way and you cannot compare the knife skills Chef Lee has to any restaurant currently in Las Vegas. I was so impressed by how supple, tender, and fresh the sashimi meat was.
The unique sashimi plate course has small bites that emulate 반찬 (banchan or Korean side dishes) and finish with the traditional 매운탕 (spicy fish soup). The portion written on the menu may say “for 2” but can feed much more than that.
Chef Lee and his wife, who run the restaurant, are extremely hospitable. They visit each table to converse with their customers, and what I appreciated the most was that Chef Lee himself would come out to serve the sashimi and describe the different parts of the fish all while giving descriptions of their intended flavor.
Overall, the standard of Korean style sashimi in Las Vegas has been raised to such a prestigious level by this humbling family restaurant alone, I never thought I could have this level of service and quality...
Read moreThe absolute best restaurant I've been to in Vegas, and maybe even in my life. For the record, I'm a local and I've been to a lot of restaurants since moving here. The food and service was top tier. I went with my fiancee last night, and I'm still thinking about it today. Absolutely go if you like raw fish.
We were greeted and seated quickly, and the chef himself came to our table and said hi. We got the sashimi combo, and the food did not stop coming. The banchan was all very good, the sashimi itself was FRESH and so so good. I've never had so many decadent pieces in one sitting. We were already full, when the chef suddenly comes out with a new plate of toro collar! Having a first world problem of too much food, we continued eating, and then MORE food came!! The tempura, cooked salmon head, and especially the fish bone soup made their way to the table and were so good and a wonderful change to the raw sashimi we have been eating. We have never felt more wonderfully full; not the regret you feel at AYCEs.
Our server/owner explained all the banchans to us and was such a breath of fresh air. I believe the chef is her husband/owner too, and he also explained every piece of sashimi we ate yesterday. You can really tell the two of them really care about this place and their customers. Our server was so incredibly nice and sweet. We were raving to her about the fish soup, and when we got our leftovers back, not only did she give us a reusable bag, but she topped off the soup for us!! This was such a wonderful experience and it is honestly 100% worth the price. I feel like the whole experience and the quality of food we got was well over the...
